Working within the University Marketing and Communications Department and in partnership with the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being, the Communications Specialist develops and drafts communication content and assists in the execution of the communications strategy in support of the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being’s communication goals. This includes content production for the web, social media, print and other mediums; graphic design, and marketing-related administrative tasks.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans editorial content according to established goals and objects
  • Writes, edits, and publishes content for various communication projects and marketing platforms to align with strategic initiatives and established communication campaigns
  • Provides project management and execution of communications programs, initiatives, and tactical plans
  • Communicates with stakeholders to verify requests and identify editorial resources
  • Monitors reach and effectiveness of communication campaigns, projects, and initiatives

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong writing and multimedia content development skills that will promote engagement and resonate with the Pruitt Center for Mindfulness and Well-Being’s target audiences.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to compile and analyze results of communications initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Skilled in social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook and Instagram.
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle for the purpose of conducting university business and meet the criteria for operation of state-owned-vehicles – Policy 615.

Required Qualifications:

Meet at least one of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field
  • Associate’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field plus 1 year of work experience in a related field

Experience with MS Office 365 including SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Graphic design skills

Valid driver’s license

This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database system
  • Experience with planning and creating content for social media accounts
  • Experience with basic photography/videography and editing
  • Experience or interest in mental health or well-being

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary range for this position is: $21.10 – $22.12 hourly. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, competitively priced health/dental/vision/life insurance, tax-advantaged savings accounts, and participation in the nationally recognized Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) pension fund.
