The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The position of Communications Supervisor will develop communications plans and tactics to effectively communicate internal and external messaging for 3M Communications. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Develops communications materials for 3M global corporate and targeted audience segments, including: all levels of 3M leaders and employees. 
  • Organizes and conducts communication activities including: target audience research, designing/executing creative cross-media tactics (e.g.: web, video, blogs, virtual events, events/campaigns) engaging and inspiring employees around business goals and the company’s mission, vision and strategies. 
  • Builds communication plans including goals, stakeholder analysis, target audience segmentation, program branding, and communication tactics. 
  • Implements communication plans that support achievement of 3M goals and strategic direction. This includes development of messaging, presentations, and broad 3M employee and program communications that concisely and compellingly address business and organizational needs. 
  • Partners cross-functionally with colleagues to ensure alignment of program communication execution. 
  • Gathering and reports on metrics to show engagement and reach of specific vehicle or campaigns. 
  • This role will specifically support the Enterprise Operations and Transformation, Technologies and Services and will join a team of communications professionals who collectively advance the mission of the organization.

Your Skills and Expertise:

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution 
  • Five (5) years experience in Marketing, Communications, Branding and/or Advertising is required

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred in Business Administration, Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, or Mass Communication from an accredited university 
  • 7-10 years of Corporate or Business Communications experience is preferred 
  • Strong collaboration skills are desired 
  • Strong writing skills are desired 
  • PowerPoint skills are desired 
  • Ability to translate strategic plan into execution of detailed tactical Communication Plan 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to persuade others in matrix environment 
  • Customer/client-centric mindset combined with contagious enthusiasm, passion and curiosity
