Community & Internal Communications Coordinator

Coordinates agency's internal and external communication activities with a focus on community outreach. Oversees communications programs that effectively promote community awareness of the agency and its products and services.

Community Outreach

1. Plans and executes programs to increase community awareness of MCTS’ services and products. 
2. Coordinates many initiatives including but not limited to: The On-Bus Rosa Parks Birthday Commemoration and Student Scholarship Program, The Bus Shelter Art Program, including student art contest winners on bus shelters for MLK Day and Cesar Chavez Day, Stuff the Bus, Doors Open, Juneteenth Parade and more. 
3. Coordinates the Mobile Meet Ups Program, where elected officials ride the bus to meet constituents. 
4. Provides supervision for onsite Public Allies Apprenticeship Program members. 
5. Oversees the Teen Advisory Board which meets twice a month. Directs meeting content, arranges for guest speakers and monitors the program’s success. 
6. Conducts Zoom meetings with community members, neighborhood groups as needed to promote bus route changes and other transit related projects. 
7. Serves as company spokesperson for the above initiatives and collaborates on media outreach with Communications Manager. 
8. Identifies article topics, writes, edits and coordinates the design for the quarterly Bus Line customer newsletter.

Internal Communications

1. Identifies article topics, writes, edits and coordinates the design for the monthly Inside MCTS employee newsletter. 
2. Coordinates content for the employee news and information portal. Identifies areas of improvement based on usage monitoring. 
3. Attends various internal workgroups for internal communications activities and events. 
4. Facilitates the monthly bus operator award program and annual bus station food drive contest. 
5. Serves as Subject Matter Expert panelist for transit-related seminars and other events. 
6. Performs other duties as required.

1. Associate's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field required.
2. A minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience in required writing, coordinating and executing semi-complex projects. 
3. Must be available during non-traditional work hours (including evenings and weekends as needed) for special events and meetings.

Salary Range: $57,878 - $68,007 annually
