Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator plays an integral role in the Association’s mission to enhance awareness of the Historic Third Ward through planning and execution of events such as monthly networking mixers, signature public events, and exclusive member events. This position is also responsible for assisting with efforts to recruit and retain members, creating engaging social media content, and providing exceptional customer service.

The Community Engagement Coordinator works closely with all HTWA staff to:

Membership Building
Build and grow the current membership base through innovative membership drives and engaging outreach. Process incoming applications and maintain database of district business tenants, residents, and property owners. Interface with vendors and members to coordinate member exclusive events.

Social Media Engagement
Develop and curate engaging social media content while maintaining a unified brand voice across social media channels. Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments. Collaborate with Marketing & Communication Director to create a social media calendar. Review analytics and create reports on key metrics. Create and publish monthly e-newsletter.

Event Planning and Execution
Work with HTWA staff to plan and execute signature public-facing events such as the Third Ward Art Festival, Christmas in the Ward, Gallery Night MKE, and others. Utilize project management skills to organize and prepare for events. Work with vendors, volunteers, public. Actively assist and manage tasks and production leading up to and during events - including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, and directing vendors.

Administrative and Board Support
Serves as first point of contact for all inquiries. Acts as neighborhood concierge; positioned at front of office to interact with visitors and constituents. Responsible for meeting coordination and organization for all board meetings (HTWA, Business Improvement District No. 2, and Architectural Review Board). Draft meeting minutes. Provide hospitality for guests. Other administrative duties, as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, or Community Development with at least two years of experience in public relations, marketing, special events and volunteer coordination/management. Candidate must have excellent communication skills – both written and verbal - along with superior interpersonal communication and organizational skills. Strong computer skills are a must – specifically experience using Windows/Office365, Constant Contact, Google Drive, Canva, Asana, Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite) and customer management platforms. The right candidate will be a proactive and self-motivated person who can work well independently and in a diverse team of co-workers. Ability to work extended hours during special events.

Preferred Background, Experience & Qualifications: Event planning & promotion; content creation; customer relationship management; graphic design skills are a plus.

Entry-level to mid-level.
