As a Community Engagement Manager, you will manage publicity and media coverage, property promotions, and community sponsorships.   • *Develop, implement, and manage all aspects of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino’s (PHC) external communications, media relations and public affairs in relation to promotion of the property. 
  • Serve as primary contact, media resource and company spokesperson promoting front of house operations. 
  • *Develop, coordinate and execute of all community relations and social responsibility outreach programs, initiatives and materials to help positively position PHC as a socially responsible business entity and good community partner. 
  • *Review, fulfill, track and maintain correspondence and coordination of all requests for cash and in-kind support to include but not limited to sponsorships, raffles, auctions, promotional items, corporate tables and certificates, relevant to the Corporate Sponsorships & Partnerships department as outlined in internal controls. 
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training team members; scheduling and motivating team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members up to and including termination; addressing complaints; and resolving problems. 
  • *Oversee and deliver details related to implementation of Community Sponsorships, as well as identify new opportunities that fit within the Corporate Sponsorships & Partnerships strategic plan. 
  • *Develop and coordinate signature community relations programs. 
  • *Develop and implement communications plans and new initiatives to enhance external audiences’ knowledge and understanding of the company and its culture, and support the continued success of these efforts. 
  • Identify, develop and coordinate social responsibility programs to include but not limited to cultural awareness programs, responsible gambling and business sustainability. 
  • Assist in the building and maintaining of partnerships with community, cultural and civic leaders on a local basis to establish a presence for and maintain positive image of PHC.
  • Speak in the community to help educate stakeholders about PHC and the benefits it provides to the community. 
  • Write and edit materials to support community relations initiatives. 
  • Participate in departmental strategic planning efforts and help create community relations plans. 
  • Maintain community relations databases. 
  • Provide appropriate community relations counsel and guidance to senior management, internal functions, departments and stakeholders. 
  • Establish, update, and ensure full compliance with departmental Internal Controls, policies, procedures, and regulations. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or other equivalent field required.
  • Five years demonstrated work experience in Communications, Public Relations or Community Relations or equivalent field required. 
  • Project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage and coordinate a number of complex projects within stringent timelines while staying within budget parameters. 
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as an effective and articulate spokesperson to local organizations and associations with sound understanding of the impact that statements to key external audiences may have on the business. 
  • Knowledge in all communication disciplines to include but not limited to Corporate Sponsorships & Partnerships, Marketing, graphic design, print/video production, speechwriting and wide-ranging communication technical systems. 
  • Office skills, ability to use standard office equipment and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Internet, Power Point and Access; knowledge of Photoshop and prior videography experience preferred. 
  • Ability to define situations, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 
  • Ability to promptly respond to common inquiries in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with stress. 
  • Ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. 
  • Ability to maintain organization, meet deadlines, possesses integrity and discretion in handling confidential information. 
  • Ability to work irregular hours and extended shifts including late nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The team member must be able to operate a personal computer. The team member is occasionally required to stand and walk, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The team member may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to twenty five (25) pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
