The Bond Between (formerly known as Secondhand Hounds) is a 501(c)(3) based in Minnesota that supports the unique bond between animals and humans. We started by building those bonds through dog and cat rescue. Since our start in 2009, we have rescued over 28,000 animals! We continue to support those bonds through our vast community outreach and engagement programs. And we reinforce those bonds with resources for pet ownership, partnerships, and more. No one does more to strengthen the bond between animals and humans.

Position Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for coordinating community events as well as managing program coordinators who’s programs revolve around community events. This role will work closely with the marketing team to advertise events, and share event content back for use on social media. They will work with the Volunteer Manager to recruit, train and assign event volunteers who are comfortable representing the organization in public settings and understand how to talk about our programs

Adoption Events

Establish regularly occurring adoption events, in central, high-traffic locations on the same days each month to make them more predictable for adopters.

External Community Events

Coordinate our organizational participation in large community events being hosted by other agencies that are non-revenue generating.

  • Annual events currently include Pride, AHS Walk for Animals, Taste of MN, Pet Video Fest

Internal Community Events

Establish regularly occurring community events including youth and family events, that are accessible to all (affordable to attend and geographically accessible)

  • Internal events currently include Puppy Snuggle Event around the holidays, crafting events, community give back days, reading contests, volunteer fairs, volunteer appreciation events

Management of event-based program coordinators

Work with program managers to continually improve programs, adhere to budgets, and advocate to get necessary resources

  • Programs included are Community Animal Visits Program, Littermate Connection Program, Pet Loss Support Group, Puppy Party Program

This role will be expected to be onsite when program obligations require it, and to also have at least 12 hours a week of standard in-office work hours. Monthly manager meetings, quarterly staff meetings and weekly or biweekly meetings with this role’s direct reports are also required.

Required Experience:

  • Passion for both animals and people

  • Experience coordinating events, including managing schedules and budgets

  • An ability to focus and manage time effectively, while moving between programs

  • Experience managing a team including performance coaching and development

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Proficiency in common computer skills, including spreadsheets
