The Community Relations Manager is responsible for leading the community relations efforts for Uponor North American campuses, including Apple Valley, Lakeville, Hutchinson and Canada. This includes building community relationships in all communities, managing all community-related programs as well as the national and local partnership relationships; coordinating projects and executing on initiatives and tactics necessary to successfully carry out the corporation’s community relations strategic plan. This role ensures the employee volunteer and grant programs are aligned with the community relations strategy and will also ensure community relations activities align with the corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability strategies. Additionally, the Community Relations Manager will manage the company contributions and employee matching gifts functions as well as community relations sponsorships, events and projects.

  • Employee Engagement – Manages and coordinates all internal community relations employee engagement activities. Defines, manages and promotes employee engagement and leadership opportunities in community activities, including volunteer opportunities, board placement and other community related events and activities.
  • External Community Engagement – Represents the company externally in community relations related activities, including meeting with non-profits to evaluate potential Uponor partnerships related to grant-making, board placement and volunteer opportunities. Reviews Uponor supported non-profits to ensure good stewardship of our dollars, donations and employee contributions and ensures that proper branding and other benefits are being maximized for Uponor.
  • Program Management – Manages and supports the employee volunteer and grant programs. Ensures the activities of these programs are tied into the broader company adopted strategy. Manages the matching gifts program and coordinates requests made of the company for grants, product donations, memberships, and sponsorships. Interfaces with third-party technology platforms to support grant and employee engagement functions with the company.
  • Administration – Maintains and monitors the company’s community relations budget and reports to management on activities and impact. Provides administrative support for employee committees.
  • Seeks out opportunities to contribute to the business success through proactive involvement in team initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required 
  • 5-7 years of experience in CSR and/or Community Relations activities 
  • Team-oriented, collaborative working style with an outgoing and energetic personality 
  • Exceptional written and verbal (spelling, grammar, creativity, speed) and organizational skills 
  • Financial skills allowing for basic budget management 
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate multiple opportunities to determine fit 
  • Professional understanding and experience with social media – Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. 
  • Strong influence skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to quickly build effective working relationships with individuals in a variety of business functions 
  • Willingness to adapt to technologies adopted by the company 
  • Proficiency in software including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, SharePoint, etc.
