We are looking for a CONSUMER INSIGHT SUPERVISOR at LG in Buffalo Grove, IL. This position's primary responsibilities would be to lead Consumer Insights Part that facilitates focus group sessions, customer insights, new product competitiveness and market surveillance. In addition, the role will be responsible to lead new product and market consumer research and product surveillance to coordinate with product planning.



  • Lead team of consumer analysts by providing clear targets and expectations for research and overall team output 
  • Create clear goals and output oriented tasks to gain consumer knowledge through CIL surveys and research 
  • Coordinate and Organize gang surveys and focus group discussions for internal LG clients and HA R&D Lab 
  • Plan, organize and setup independent, in-house focus groups and consumer interviews to screen innovations and ideas 
  • Responsible for the successful generation of final research reports and tabulated data 
  • Manage research calendar and budget and maintain recruitment vendor relationships 
  • Coordinate recruitment process through screeners in accordance with the planning managers 
  • Co-work with product planning to create new innovations through result of research and gang studies 
  • Create and maintain CIL lab protocols and standard operating procedures


  • Deep dive ethnographic research based on home visits and lifestyle studies to drive new innovations 
  • Interview actual customers in their home environment to determine behavior patterns and its impact on products 
  • Coordinate various ethnographic studies to better understand the US consumers and what makes this market unique 
  • Create creative methods of improving end-user environment monitoring and accurately depict their actions at home 
  • Develop a knowledge-base of American behavior and its impact on products to support product development and planning 
  • Create in-depth understanding of consumer knowledge to create a link to improving research methods and LG products 
  • Create innovation sessions based on consumer research and brainstorm new ideas to impact the customer


  • Monitor and summarize the trend of Home appliances industry and create reports including implications to LGE 
  • Frequently visit retailers to obtain salesman and consumer feedback on current LG products and features 
  • Track competitor movement in the industry and new product / feature predictions through industry info and affiliates 
  • Determine the impact of competitor products through VOC/forum/salesman/ interviews and surveys 
  • Continuous monitoring of various buzzing industries and services to determine consumer trends and direction 
  • Creation of prediction methods to determine next hot topic and hit products in all industries and the key catalysts 
  • Assist in market research projects with external vendors



  • Ability to moderate consumer discussions and identify key findings/insights 
  • Ability to lead a team through organization, coordination and industry experience 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in research, ethnography, marketing or product development 
  • Bachelors Degree in Business, sociology or research degree 
  • Strong Communication and Presentation skills (PowerPoint, Excel) 
  • Travel may be required


  • Excellent communication skills in English 
  • Analytical thinker with intuitive, creative problem solving skills 
  • Knowledge of electronics products and home appliances 
  • Ability for innovative thinking with passion in this field. 
  • Positive mind, diligent attitude, and strong sense of responsibility 
  • Foundational statistics knowledge a plus
