This position collaborates with cross-functional partners to uncover consumer insights also leveraging analytics and reporting for Johnson Outdoors Marketing and Product teams. Leveraging primary and secondary market research, competitive intelligence and business analysis the role will identify key insights and work with business leaders to build insight and data-driven strategy and tactics.

  • Collaboratively partners with our consumer insights panel vendor and across JO business units to project manage and facilitate the consumer insights efforts. Supports the internal community insights panel by creating planned activities, monitoring and sharing results and working closely with the businesses to identify future needs, next steps and ensure projects are successful. Recruits and provides new members into our panel as others circulate off the panel. 
  • Creates value through facilitating primary and secondary market research initiatives, contributing to successful business decisions and strategies, creating/identifying competitive advantages and helping brand teams achieve annual goals. 
  • Assists with condensing and translating research findings and projects into actionable insights that can be used in communications and business activities. Identifies and communicates areas of improvements to enhance our products. 
  • Develops, maintains and communicates in-depth knowledge of trends, events and major players in business focus areas. and provides insight through analysis of metrics and other key data points. 
  • Assists each business unit implement their annual market research plan driven by their marketing plans and ROCKET innovation process. 
  • Works with business partners to better understand their consumer insights needs and facilitate reporting, research or analysis. 
  • Collaborates with external research suppliers, including research study design, proposal costs and deliverables. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or equivalent. 
  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of marketing experience, which includes collaborating with vendors and internal business partners on marketing needs, coordinating projects and communicating with a variety of people to facilitate marketing processes.
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of consumer insights processes. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability and skills in developing and analyzing reports to identify consumer insights and needs which will drive business decisions. 
  • Ability to prepare detailed instructions/guidance notes to manage projects using external vendors. 
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively manage projects and facilitate business needs between internal business partners on varying levels and vendors. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment to effectively manage the timelines for multiple marketing projects, promotions and events. 
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Self-starter who is experienced at taking initiative and showing results. 
  • Excellent skills in problem solving, organization and creativity and innovation. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
