The Insights & Analytics (I&A) Analyst performs basic category analysis under the direction of the Manager or Director, of I&A for TreeHouse Foods (THS). Responsibilities include gathering category and consumer data to help identify opportunities to improve category sales at our priority customers through category reviews, optimal assortment and pricing analysis, and providing monthly analysis and reporting to our Commercial Sales organization and cross-functional partners within THS. Synthesizes market intelligence and both syndicated and panel data to deliver category, customer, and consumer insights to our Commercial Selling organization and cross-functional teams. Performs data gathering, headline and news synthesis and communication of information and insights to inform and guide internal and customer decision making around categories and assortment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Gathers category, consumer, and shopper data to help identify opportunities at the customer level to improve category sales through optimal distribution/assortment, merchandising, pricing, and shelving. 
  • Assists and/or completes the analytical preparation used for a customer category review. 
  • Provides analysis & reporting to Commercial Sales as customer-facing meetings and bids are scheduled. 
  • Coordinates analytic support and projects with broker partners and Commercial Broker team assigned to support specific THS customers to reduce overlap and drive efficiency and expand bandwidth of I&A Commercial impact. 
  • Provides analysis and reports used during the monthly commercial and customer planning cycle. 
  • Available to attend customer meetings as a support resource. 
  • Helps develop analytic skills and library of tools to further fact-based selling capability of others on the team (e.g. newer Analysts, Commercial Business Managers, etc.)

Job Complexity:

  • Aims to become subject matter expert in data and data analysis including IRI Unify platform experience, Numerator promotion intelligence, Panel data, Nielsen Answers and Assortment tools, as well as experience in managing customer data such as RetailLink data from Nielsen Madrid, Albertsons data in IRI, Amazon data and more. Familiarity with trend data such as Mintel, Techonomic, and other resources needed to build cohesive category selling stories. 
  • Convert category - specific intelligence from category teams (BUs) into customer-specific sell-stories. 
  • Provides Commercial Tower teams with external-facing insights to support content. development for customer-specific meetings / requests (e.g. line reviews) 
  • Provides customer teams with internal-facing insights (e.g. white space, 4P management). 
  • Generates and provides on-going reporting needs for customer teams (e.g. customer performance vs total market, QTR; Note: non-financial reporting)

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • MS Office, Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills Category, Customer, and Consumer 
  • Knowledge 0-2 years of work experience, preferably with background in CPG, consulting, finance, or another analytical field is a plus but not a prerequisite. All candidates must be able to demonstrate interest in the industry and an ability to quickly get up to speed 
  • Skilled in creating and managing reports in traditional and custom data packages 
  • Ability to translate disparate data points into a cohesive set of insights 
  • Ability to distill various sources of information into actionable insights, with a focus on the implications to TreeHouse. 
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and must develop materials and formats that translate across a wide range of functional audiences. 
  • Self-starter with a high degree of intellectual curiosity and continuous improvement mindset and learning agility

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Analytic: math, finance or related field
