Serves as the district’s storyteller by developing, managingand producing engaging and compelling content for newsletters, website, emails, and other materials designed to engage stakeholders. Seeks out and reports on district and school successes and achievements, events; and also acts as liaison across the district, its stakeholders ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency in communications.

  • Serves as the district’s storyteller by developing, writing, and producing engaging and compelling content for newsletters, website, blog and other materials designed to engage stakeholders. 
  • Utilizes an active, engaging, and storytelling writing style that motivates the reader to action. 
  • Actively seeks out district and school highlights likely to generate publicity or general awareness, and creates written and/or multimedia content to most effectively convey these messages to the target audience. 
  • Supports the creation of marketing and advertising campaigns by writing, revising and editing copy.
  • Assists with the creation, storyboarding, and execution of digital multimedia communication materials. 
  • Maintains an up-to-date editorial calendar which details upcoming deadlines and topics. 
  • Serves as the department liaison between departments, offices, and schools. 
  • Maintains positive working relationships with all MPS stakeholders. 
  • Balances multiple projects and tasks within a fast-paced environment. 
  • Supports district offices and department by setting up, scheduling, sending emails, and recording the results. 
  • Manages, edits, writes district emails for external audience. 
  • Writes and/or proofreads emails for clarity, grammar, and spelling. 
  • Ensures messages are sent in proper form and template. 
  • Maintains email list, purge non-deliverable email addresses and opt-outs. 
  • Collaborates with Communication & Marketing team on brainstorming creative strategies for weekly messaging and storytelling ideas 
  • Assists in the development and implementation of MPS overall internal and external communication strategy. 
  • Participates in all-staff, team, and other internal meetings as requested. 
  • Attends District meeting to stay up-to-date on District policy and happenings. 
  • Serves as an outstanding team player who can troubleshoot issues, offer ideas and support, and help others succeed. 
  • Actively supports the MPS Strategic Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Position requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field. 
  • A combination of education & experience may be considered. 
  • Five or more years’ experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field. Demonstrated experience in writing and content creation.

Salary: $70,465 - 101,577
