We are currently seeking a Content Development Manager to join our team.

The Content Development Manager oversees the content creation and production of digital and print educational content for AHIMA Press. This involves aligning the content roadmap to evolving digital platforms and needs with revenue targets. The Content Development Manager ensures ongoing quality and usefulness of content to health information educators and professionals published under the AHIMA imprint. This position manages the editorial staff, project delegation and oversight of quality control, and management of authors, external subject matter experts, and vendors. The Content Development Manager is responsible to mentor editors to increase overall digital and print editorial and project management skills, accuracy, and efficiency. This position is responsible for developmental editing and project management for priority products.

This position is a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to set the roadmap to translate and create digital learning products targeting higher education and professional development on the platforms required by the markets.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Creation (70%)

  • Manage content creation and production lifecycles, including project delegation, communicating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality and timeliness. 
  • Manage and mentor digital and print editorial team. 
  • Developmental editing and project management for priority products.

New Content and Process Improvement (15%)

  • Contribute to increased revenue by expanding content through targeted planning and growth strategy, developing a digital and print content plan based on annual financial targets and product planning. 
  • Thoroughly researching and analyzing new and emerging topics; writing justification, scope, and outline documents; conducting and analyzing market research. 
  • Network and develop relationships with content experts and external clients and vendors.

Product Roadmap and other duties (15%)

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to establish a product roadmap for transitioning print content to digital platforms. 
  • Network and engage with internal and external stakeholders using qualitative and quantitative tools to research and analyze current and future digital content opportunities. 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year degree in a related field required; advanced degree a plus. 
  • 8+ years of experience in higher education, academic, or professional publishing. 
  • Tech savvy with an understanding of ebook standards, digital learning platforms, and education technology. 
  • Advanced project management with proven history of timely and financially successful projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; experience mentoring and coaching authors and editors. 
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent editorial skills and command of English mechanics and grammar, including knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style. 
  • Familiarity with and knowledge of finances of publishing, royalties, permissions, and copyright processes. 
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, federal governmental healthcare laws, insurance, and code sets preferred.
