Content Editor

How will you make an impact?

This role requires a tech-savvy individual who will apply editing and development experience to review, proof and edit content in a variety of formats and within a spectrum of technology platforms including Marketo, Knak, Sitecore and Adobe Creative Cloud applications. You will also be trained to manage and administer MGIC’s Marketing Orders Online ecommerce platform. You’ll work with Marketing and Creative Services team members to enhance and streamline the creative approach and development process of digital and print advertising, flyers, websites and blogs, video, and social media copy for publishing across a wide variety of marketing channels. You’ll have many opportunities to practice and showcase your resourcefulness as you leverage credible resources and subject matter experts to corroborate information and contribute to your editing efforts. 

This is accomplished by:
  • Review and revise content for accuracy and quality, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax 
  • Communicate and work with production team to ensure that content is published in a timely manner 
  • Manage content availability for field representatives using our 24/7 self-service cloud-based ecommerce platform, Marketing Orders Online (MOO) 
  • Usher email campaigns through a rigorous testing and QA process within our marketing automation platforms 
  • Participate in the web page review, proofing and editing process within our content management system 
  • Ensure correct tone, voice, clarity, flow and structure of content 
  • Ensure that content adheres to the in-house brand guide 
  • Write blurbs, leads, headlines and straplines 
  • Compile and update style guides as required 
  • Collaborate with team to come up with fresh and creative ideas, keeping audience in mind
  • Stay abreast of the latest content trends and best practices 
  • Own and manage the content quality assurance and proofing process 
  • Uphold, enhance and contribute to procedures and documentation related to content creation and project management processes 
  • Assist in maintaining the content strategy and calendar development for our brands and their social media platforms 
  • Understand the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customers, product goals, and other aspects of value-adds and customer service 

What does success look like?

First 30 days:

  • Meet other Marketing teammates and become familiar with their roles 
  • Become familiar with Marketing’s current types of content and marketing channels 
  • Become familiar with Marketing’s productivity and publishing tools and become comfortable with our processes 
  • Attend a variety of Marketing meetings 
  • Meet individuals who frequently request content from Creative Services and learn about their typical needs 
  • Meet our Internal Communications teammates and opportunities for partnership 
  • Become familiar with typical Creative Services requests and project backlog 
  • Be introduced to the wide variety of proofing requests and the proofing process and expectations 

First 6 months:

  • Become proficient delivering on proofing requests meting expectations and utilizing procedures 
  • Provide ideas for process improvement 
  • Apply training provided on productivity and publishing tools to execute proofing, editing and manage review processes 
  • Utilize wide variety of online tools and applications to execute job tasks 
  • Work collaboratively with Creative Services, Marketing and other MGIC peers to produce work product 
  • Have an understanding of which enhancements will be the most impactful for Marketing users and initiatives 
  • Become comfortable working with digital experience and marketing operations teammates and how to best work with individuals on those teams to support content production and publishing 
  • Learn and practice proofing and editing for the mortgage insurance industry 

First year:

  • Know the ins and outs of Marketing’s online tools and applications 
  • Become more comfortable and confident with proofing, editing and writing for the mortgage insurance industry 
  • Comfortably handle a variety of tasks within our digital productivity and publishing tools 

Do you have what it takes?

  • Knowledge of Associated Press or Chicago Style 
  • Proven experience in content publishing and/or editing, especially digital formats 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Comfortable with project management, marketing automation and content management software applications such as Wrike, Microsoft Teams, Marketo, Knak and Sitecore 
  • Editing experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. a plus 
  • Working knowledge of SEO 
  • An impressive portfolio
