Overview:

This role is responsible for creating, writing, and curating content for multiple communication channels that support the overall client communication, business development and associate communication strategies and initiatives. Also provides editing and proofreading services as needed.

This position requires work in support of the Company’s contract with the United States Department of Education (“ED”). As such, the United States Government requires that any applicant for this position must complete United States Government security clearance. Effective June 1, 2018, ED has informed Nelnet that security clearance applications for foreign nationals are not being accepted or processed. In light of this direction from ED, Nelnet will be unable to hire applicants without United States citizenship for such positions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop written content based on approved messaging and collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) for messaging, branding, tone and grammar to make appropriate for internal and external consumption
  2. Plan, write, and edit content to be distributed across multiple platforms including email, blog, sales collateral, proposals, and newsletters.
  3. Edit, proofread, and improve other writers’ content
  4. Assist in creating and facilitating execution of editorial calendars and content marketing efforts to multiple audiences.
  5. Work with SMEs to write both short and long-form compelling content
  6. Research, study and maintain an expert knowledge of content marketing trends, best practices and technologies.
  7. Consult with stakeholders on communication needs, objectives, and strategies and determine communication plans with supervision.
  8. Collaborate with other writers, subject matter experts, communication coordinators, and graphic designers who may share responsibility on specific projects.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two years of professional content development experience, including developing concepts, writing, editing, and proofreading. Experience with Business-to-Business (B2B) content writing and strategy.
