Position Overview:

The Content Strategist will lead the development and oversee all aspects of content development – from conception to launch across UnitedHealth Group priority initiatives in our Innovation Centers. A strategic and collaborative content leader with deep experience creative strategy, concepting and production to drive compelling storytelling and targeting of key audiences across multiple platforms (physical spaces, digital content, live events, presentations) who can simplify complex topics and grab people’s attention with messages that feel authentic.

Candidates must be collaborative, proactive, and comfortable in ambiguity. Expect high levels of partner interaction – you must enjoy working directly with executive leaders and business owners, as well as design and writing partners and striving to exceed their expectations in this highly visible role.

Responsibilities:

Content:

  • A master story-teller responsible for all aspects of content development: from cultivating and developing relationships within UnitedHealth Group, researching, architecting the storyline/show-flow from content framework, collaborating with marketing, creative and communications teams to bring live and virtual tours together around our enterprise mission/products/services. 
  • Researches and distills complex concepts, data and insights into clear and engaging stories that humanize the data 
  • With project management team, manages the content pipeline on current projects in various stages of development

Tour Planning/Guidance

  • Directs the strategic intent and plans each tour based on the initiatives and objectives of the host based on the audience (guest) insights 
  • A design sensibility to envision how content will be presented or distributed in formats such as data visualizations or multimedia presentations

Relationships

  • Liaison to business owners/SMEs for content and approval 
  • A strong interviewer who makes people comfortable and willing to tell their story

Production

  • Brings strong, inspirational creative leadership with tactical recommendations to all production and tech related conversations

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalency with minimum 6 years of experience in PR, content development, marketing, or journalism 
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and editing skills with analytical abilities necessary to gather key insights and ideas then apply those to create multimedia presentations 
  • Proven skills in creativity, problem-solving, follow-through and prioritizing 
  • Prior experience producing integrated content with some technical knowledge of production and related technologies 
  • Proven track record leading cross functional teams with ability to inspire, motivate, and influence colleague

Preferred Qualification:

  • Healthcare industry knowledge is a plus (though not required) 
  • Agency experience a plus (though not required) 
  • Experience in the ideation and creation of exceptional, customized guest experiences

Soft Skills:

  • A self-starter who instinctively takes charge, has a positive team player approach, and is comfortable in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment with the ability to maintain motivated, rigorous attitude throughout arduous development phase 
  • Ability to interact with C-level executives/senior leaders and represent creative in meetings able to influence and sell innovative ideas 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
