POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides copyediting services that drive results while adhering to brand standards.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Copyedits all print and Web-based materials, including brochures, flyers, newsletters, journals, programs, internal communications, and other documents, as requested.
  • Eliminates grammatical problems and tense and usage errors; incorrect word division, punctuation, and spacing (vertical and horizontal); and typographical errors. Checks for missing copy. Rewrites and reformats as requested or needed.
  • Maintains an ASQ style guide to ensure copy is written in accordance with the style guide.
  • Corrects inconsistencies in style or content, adhering to ASQ guidelines, ASQ brand, and current reference manuals.
  • Verifies accuracy of names, titles, organizations, and other data. Serves as resource person for ASQ staff regarding style information; assist in training when necessary. Responsibility for training organization around best practices & updating ASQ’s Brand book & Style Guide. Conducts training sessions with ASQ staff as a proactive approach. Presents at new hire orientation.
  • Maintains sequence/flow of projects to sustain schedules.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in English, journalism, or related field required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of up to 3 years of copyediting and proofreading in a graphics or publishing environment required. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, especially PowerPoint, required.
