PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Duluth Copywriter is central to the quality of storytelling, product positioning, and high creative quality indigenous to Duluth. The writer is highly involved in integrated campaigns, concepting, and the writing of powerful, emotive selling copy that maximizes sales and upholds the brand voice, tone and messaging consistently.

What You’ll Do:

  • Write, edit and proofread copy for catalogs, web, email, retail signage, ads, product videos, social media, SEO copy and other media.
  • Adapt writing style to Duluth brand and the unique requirements of each selling channel.
  • Research and write cross-channel “stories” as part of our storytelling mission.
  • Work closely with product managers to become a product expert, fully understanding products and their features and benefits to be communicated.
  • Work effectively with designers, marketing, managers and external creative partners to create new, exciting selling concepts and seasonal campaigns.
  • Adapt selling messages and copy to emails, web product pages; implement SEO.
  • Organize, prioritize and self-manage work to meet all production deadlines.

What We’re Looking for:

  • MUST - pleaes sumbit a cover letter and samples or link to your portfolio when applying for the opportunity.
  • 2 to 5 years minimum expereince.
  • Commercial writing experience, preferably catalog, internet or agency
  • Demonstrated ability to write in a Duluth Trading style; copy test required
  • Editorial/story writing experience, research and interviewing skills
  • Highly creative; outstanding brainstorming/concepting skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once, work independently and self-manage
  • Excellent editing/proofreading skills; understanding of AP style guide; attention to detail
  • Internet experience preferred; basic understanding of SEO/Google AdWords
  • Previous use of InDesign and InCopy is strongly preferred
  • Comfort level working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative work environment
  • Bachelor Degree in related field
