At AHIMA, we come to work every day to help make healthcare better through the trusted use of health information – from the operating room to a smartwatch – no matter when or where it is accessed. We’re looking for a Copywriter to join our marketing team!

What does this role do at AHIMA?

The Copywriter will play an integral role in ensuring content is engaging and consistent in brand style, tone, and voice, across all AHIMA communication vehicles.

Reporting to the Brand Communications Director, the Copywriter will manage AHIMA brand communications and lifecycle marketing messaging. This includes translation of messaging objectives into compelling, conversion-driving copy across a variety of channels, as well as working closely with the product marketing and design teams to brainstorm ideas, develop concepts, and articulate messaging, you will ensure that the content is optimized for search, engagement, member recruitment, and brand tone and voice.

The role exists to write, proofread, and edit visible marketing/communications content, which involves crafting concise, engaging, persuasive copy across product marketing campaign elements (including web, email, social media, and paid digital advertising), supporting proofreading and editing of member directed content (newsletters, blog posts, website pages, whitepapers, etc.), collaborating with the creative team and cross functionally across AHIMA to ensure goals are being met while attaining/maintaining creative vision that is on strategy and on brand, and understanding marketing plans (including objectives and strategies on how success will be measured).

Success for this role will be measured by the quality of output, conversions, member engagement metrics, ability to develop high end copy under tight deadlines, adherence to brand guidelines, industry fact-checking/copyright rules, SEO optimization, and page rankings.

Who is our ideal candidate?

You have a compelling portfolio of distinctive writing samples that demonstrate engaging copywriting and storytelling, and have exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills. You are capable of quickly mastering the AHIMA voice and understanding what we do and the products and services we deliver.

You can give, accept, and apply feedback, to balance multiple projects in a demanding work environment, and to produce a constant flow of engaging content and advertising concepts.

You’re a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills and have a strong understanding of SEO. Lastly, you’re able to hold yourself and others accountable, great at planning, and can always keep the customer in mind.

In addition, you have:

  • At least 4 years of copywriting experience working for an agency, in-house at a brand, or as a freelance writer, preferably within the healthcare industry. 
  • A Bachelor of Arts in advertising, marketing, English, or creative writing.
