Position Summary:

This role is part of a team of 100+ marketing professionals in our Corporate Marketing team. If you are looking for a role to use your creative and writing skills to engage customers and prospects, our Copywriter role is for you! The Copywriter will develop interesting advertising copy that engages customers and prospects, compels them to make a purchase, and reinforces our brand identity and corporate image. This includes new promotions, updates to existing promotions and original writing for both promotional and non-promotional content.

At J. J. Keller, we value flexibility. This role can work fully remote from within the US, a blend of on-site and remote, or on-site at our Corporate Headquarters in Neenah, WI.

Job Responsibilities;

  • Reviews and updates existing promotions, conducting research and (re)writing advertising copy as necessary. Submits new copy to manager for approval and commentary. Tracks project status. 
  • Develops copy for marketing promotions as well as other projects as assigned (i.e. press releases, sales collateral, trade publication ads, etc.). May develop copy for digital formats as well (website, email, etc.) 
  • Gathers project-related product/market/regulatory data and strategic direction from Marketing, R&D, Editorial, and Sales as needed during the writing process. Conducts competitive research and benchmarking. 
  • Collaborates with graphic designers to develop cohesive promotions and collateral materials that “sell.” 
  • Routes copy to appropriate individuals for checking; edits according to applicable commentary. 
  • Assists in all internal proofing stages. 
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of the markets served and the government agencies/regulations related to J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. products.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, English, marketing, or a related field. 
  • In lieu of the Bachelor's degree, equivalent years of a combination of directly related experience and education may be considered.

Experience:

  • 3+ years copywriting experience in a business environment, including experience writing promotional copy. 
  • Experience writing a variety of marketing related materials (such as press releases, catalogs, magazine ads, sales collateral, and direct mail pieces). 
  • Digital experience a strong plus (SEO, Emails, etc.) 
  • Direct response experience a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to write very clear and focused advertising copy. 
  • Understanding of marketing concepts, promotional and direct response writing principles. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Solid proofreading skills. 
  • Excellent listening skills. 
  • Ability to handle numerous facts and details in deadline-focused environment. 
  • Ability to manage multiple creative projects simultaneously and cope with high work volumes.

Physical Requirements:

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel to offsite offices, customer sites and/or industry and training events may also be required, depending on assignment.
