The Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute (HHRI) has a new opportunity for a Corporate Communications Coordinator to provide assistance to and support the corporate communication activities of HHRI. Experience in writing and editing, communication coordination, and social media and web communications desired, as is experience working in a healthcare/medical or research environment.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide assistance and support of Hennepin Healthcare Research Institute corporate communication activities, with a special emphasis on experience reaching BIPOC audiences. Key areas of support include digital communications, employee communications, marketing communications, public relations, and special projects. Duties include: helping to implement communications strategies; writing, editing and designing communications content; providing administrative and meeting support.A key responsibility for this position will be helping the organization make connections with minority audiences with the goal of building trust and overcoming barriers to participation in medical research that has the potential to promote health equity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Digital media support

  • Develop web and social media content

Communications and public relations support

  • Assist with development and distribution of employee communications
  • Create communications collateral
  • Assist with marketing communications and public relations campaigns and events

Administrative Support

  • Assist in scheduling and logistics of various meetings and projects as requested by the corporate communications manager
  • Track communications projects and media exposure
  • Assist with developing and managing editorial and content calendars

Education/Experience:

Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be a baccalaureate degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, journalism or other related field; and (2-3) years of related experience. Experience in writing and editing, communication coordination, and social media and web communications desired, as is experience working in a healthcare/medical or research environment. Required experience withmedia outlets whose primary audiences are BIPOC communities.

Skill, Knowledge & Ability:

Ability to self-start and function with minimal supervision, being well-organized, setting and following priorities, identifying and solving problems. Attentive to detail. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including writing, editing and proofreading. Knowledge of digital graphics and design. Ability to work under deadline pressure when necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Acrobat Professional, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and other applications as needed. Professional demeanor, to include: high standards of attendance and punctuality, good interpersonal skills and customer-service attitude, ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to policies and procedures.
