OVERVIEW:

The Supply Chain Communications Manager is an exciting opportunity to lead executive communications planning and strategy for the Global Supply Chain function. They will focus on increasing employee engagement and drive awareness, alignment and support of the function’s priorities via internal communications. This role partners closely with our Chief Supply Chain Officer and several members of the Global Supply Chain leadership team. They are the primary communications partner on all executive communications, function meetings and events, and key business communications. This role will also manage external PR needs in partnership with the corporate brand team and will seek out external opportunities to showcase General Mills Supply Chain as an industry leader.

This role is an opportunity to employ and further build strategic consulting & influence, external PR expertise, compelling content development, and project management, as well as gain further experience with senior leader partnership – all while having a high impact within our largest function.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Comms support for function and executive support for John Church (working closely with HR VP and Chief of Staff)

  • Drive and manage the function’s communication plan and John Church’s executive communications plan
  • Organize logistics and provide content for executive communications (meetings, videos, emails)
  • Create content for function & cross-function presentations (ex: Affinity Networks, onboarding, Bell Technical Conference, etc.)
  • Provide functional editorial content back to corporate team for broader employee / PR consumption
  • Internal enterprise event support (Company Meetings)
  • Partnership on Corporate HR communications (engagement survey, engaging leader, champions awards, benefit changes, org changes, etc.)
  • External speaking or PR opportunities as appropriate. (with External Corp Comms)

Lead for COVID19 Supply chain needs

Issues management in partnership with corporate, government relations and labor relations when necessary.

Manages 1 direct report who focuses on NA supply chain communications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, PR, Journalism or related 
  • Minimum of 6-8+ years of professional experience working in corporate communications or PR agency with experiences in external PR and internal communication/change management communications 
  • Strong executive presence with solid business understanding to provide consulting, influencing and writing for senior leaders 
  • Excellent writer with proven success in a variety of formats (email and video); strong experience with compelling content development and delivery 
  • Ability to distill complex information into clear, concise messaging 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Ability to consistently deliver within established deadlines while prioritizing, multi-tasking and advancing several projects simultaneously 
  • Experience in account management and counseling project teams to conduct a variety of assessments (e.g., audience needed for desired outcome, change readiness, stakeholder analysis) to develop strong communication plans 
  • Proven track record managing multiple projects and tight deadlines is critical for this role 
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and apply a learning mindset

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Meeting or event planning experience 
  • Strong business acumen/financial communications acumen
  • Video project management experience (communication channel savvy) 
  • Collaborative working style 
  • Eager to learn and try new things and lead change 
  • Ability to successfully navigate ambiguous situations 
  • Multi-media experience in creating/writing videos, newsletters, meetings, and presentations is strongly preferred 
  • Creative and highly motivated self-starter who is focused on delivering compelling communications 
  • Analytical Mindset – Conducts ongoing thoughtful analysis and uses sound judgement to translate insights into integrated and actionable solutions to better serve the business
