Description of Job:

Develops strategic and impactful communications programs and messaging across geographies, business units and functions that position the company as a global leader in biorationals. Counsels business leaders and recommends materials and tools to support business unit campaigns by the various business units. Represents the organization with key industry organizations and stakeholders. Manages corporate social value and employee engagement initiatives for the company.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with senior leadership and the business and marketing teams to plan and execute initiatives that align with company strategies and ensure that activities are conducted in a timely, effective, and accurate manner. 
  • Leads development and execution of strategic communications and public affairs plans, strategies, and programs that maintain the company’s global reputation for excellence and innovation. 
  • Oversees the company’s brand, image, and reputation, ensuring that Valent BioSciences is viewed favorably by all stakeholders. 
  • Serves as the key counselor for the Public Health and Forest Health business units, developing communications programs and materials that enhance their reputation. 
  • Acts as the lead crisis communications expert for the business and develops appropriate plans focusing on specific issues, as well as identifies, trains and coaches appropriate spokespeople. 
  • Develops and manages thought leadership initiatives focused on innovation, sustainability, and diversity, equity, and inclusion that support the company’s mission, vision, and values. 
  • Acts as the primary industry affairs liaison with key organizations and stakeholders.
  •  Supports community relations efforts and outreach with government affairs. 
  • Works with senior leadership and Human Resources to communicate change management strategies and plans for the organization. 
  • Identifies potential issues that can negatively impact the business and creates mitigation plans and activities to reduce risks. 
  • Partners with Human Resources in introducing, messaging, and supporting important employee programs. 
  • Helps manage external media relations opportunities that build the company’s reputation and brand. 
  • Assists in developing and implementing communications and support for key trade shows, conferences, and events and attends them as necessary.

Experience:

  • 6-9 years of relevant experience. 
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of communications, public affairs, marketing, and branding. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, in managing multiple cross-functional projects. 
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Education:

  • BA in communications/advertising/marketing

Travel:

  • 5-10%
