What You’ll Do:

As a Corporate Communications Specialist you'll help drive the global corporate communications strategy. You'll help us work to advance our corporate goals through effective, targeted communication, this role will help to engage, educate, and inspire our salaried and hourly employees.

Reporting to the Corporate Communications Manager, the Specialist role will help to strengthen the reputation of James Hardie as both an industry leader and a great place to work, strengthening our company reputation within the manufacturing industry and the regions in which we operate.

The Corporate Communications Specialist will deploy their creative flair and multimedia know-how to execute engaging content across various mediums that are consistent with James Hardie’s brand and values. This visible and professional position blends strategic and tactical work, closely collaborating with valued internal stakeholders to achieve desired communication outcomes. Internal Communications channels will be the main priority, with opportunities also available to support external communications and global brand campaigns.

Responsibilities will include managing the Corporate Communications content calendar, creating, and executing content across the company’s various channels, channel platform management, writing and editing engaging stories, end-to-end campaign project management, and working with our external creative partners.

The right candidate will be a motivated, energetic and hard-working individual looking to play an integral role in the transformation and growth of James Hardie’s Corporate Communications function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Corporate Communications Manager in the execution of Global Corporate Communications strategy to highlight business priorities and help increase our employee engagement through storytelling. 
  • Manage the Corporate Communications content calendar, working closely with our internal and external partners to coordinate content that is consistent, cohesive, timely and on budget. 
  • Work closely with our internal partners including HR, Marketing, Legal, Finance and Sales to execute effective communication campaigns that align with our team’s strategy and goals. 
  • Assist in creating clear and engaging content that highlights James Hardie’s mission, vision and values. 
  • Tactical execution of content using various channels including SharePoint, Intranet, social media, digital screens, newsletters, emails and events. 
  • Assisting the Global Brand and Corporate Communications team with meeting year on year planning, corporate events, meeting and budget management.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, marketing or communications. 
  • Minimum of 5-8 years in a Corporate Communications or Marketing Communications role 
  • Copywriting and editing experience within a corporate environment 
  • Relationship management experience with multiple internal and external stakeholders 
  • Communications campaign project management 
  • 3 years’ experience, preferred 
  • Minimum of 3 days office presence per week. 
  • Manufacturing industry and / or global corporate experience a plus 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite 
  • Experience in executing regular communications content using various platforms such as SharePoint, AppSpace, Adobe Experience Manager, Canva, AirTable, Smartsheet, Webex Events, Video.

  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and cross-functional relationship-building / project management skills 
  • The ability to work collaboratively and persuasively with critical internal and external stakeholders 
  • Flexible and able to adjust within a fast-paced work environment, prioritize important tasks, and execute tactical communications quickly 
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills, thinking outside the box to story-tell 
  • Good knowledge and execution of corporate social media communications 
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated 
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure 
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task while meeting deadlines 
  • Ability to travel occasionally, up to 10%
