In this position, the Manager of Corporate Events & Special Projectswill provide strategic leadership and support for all Bethesda Lutheran Communities corporate events and selected special projects. The individual will develop and implement best practices for events and projects that will create consistency in execution while growing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and building the Bethesda Brand.

Key Duties you will be doing:

  • Provides strategic leadership and support for all corporate events.
  • Event types include but are not limited to fundraising, staff development, board of director engagements, celebrations, donor and sponsor appreciation, grand openings, community engagement, athletic and social.
  • Establishes and manages annual events calendar and budget.
  • Provides direction and leadership for Bethesda's trade show participation, assuring the brand is represented in a professional and impactful manner.
  • Leads and manages Bethesda's online promotional item/clothing storefronts.
  • Determines appropriate merchandise selections, inventory and price points. 
  • Seeks out and implements best practice standards to enhance Bethesda events.
  • Creates, plans, executives and provides feedback with suggestions for improvement for all events. 
  • Uses technology to organize details, share results and present information to organizational leadership.
  • Develops and implements best practices for events that will create consistency in execution and increase revenue.
  • Expands outreach across the United States by looking for opportunities to create new events by collaborating and building relationships with other staff, volunteers, corporate sponsors and vendors. 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required 5 to 7 years of recent and related experience with an emphasis in project management, events planning, fundraising, sponsorship generation, building and sustaining relationships.
  • Strong leadership/management/relationship skills with ability to work with and motivate remote teams in the field.
  • Knowledge and experience with digital technology, social media, CRM software (Raiser’s Edge preferred).
  • Detail oriented with strong written, verbal communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web searches. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively balancing multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Flexibility to travel up to 20% and willingness to work irregular hours.
