Position Details

Creative Director
Twin Cities Metro
Saint Paul, MN

Provide leadership and strategic vision for the creative services team to ensure compelling, innovative and consistent content and design that reflects the Bethel brand.


  • Provide direct supervision to the team of writers and designers, focusing on ensuring their success and professional development. 
  • Focus on the entire body of work, ensure that creative work is compelling, consistent, adheres to brand standards, and accomplishes established goals. 
  • Apply best practices and new strategies to creative work—in approach, execution, and the final product. 
  • Promote and champion innovation in creative work and infuse new ideas to meet the goals of the University.
  • Collaborate with project managers with job assignments, creative direction, troubleshooting, and project scope. 
  • Collaborate closely with the chief marketing officer and other directors within the division to ensure seamless integration and execution of shared strategies. 
  • Research and implement new design trends that fit within the Bethel brand and assist in accomplishing client goals. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of marketing principles, approaches, practices, and strategies. 
  • Ability to clearly and consistently articulate Bethel’s brand, voice, and distinctives. 
  • Experience with marketing and creative technologies: Adobe Creative Studio, web analytics (Google Analytics, etc.), marketing automation, media (Doubleclick, Google Adwords, etc.), CRM (Salesforce), CMS (Cascade), data dashboards (Domo), email marketing (Campaign Monitor), project management tools (Basecamp, Smartsheets, etc.). 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills. 
  • Attention to detail; excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communications; and the ability to communicate and persuade a diverse audience. 
  • Ability to provide clarity to situations, conversations, and problems where others do not. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, direct reports, student workers, vendors, external stakeholders, and senior leadership.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of related professional experience (creative production, project management, creative processes/workflows)
  • Direct management/supervisory experience.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Additional Information:

  • Occasional nights and weekends may be required.
  • This is a 1.0 FTE, 12 months per year position.
