Overview

This role is responsible for leading a cross-functional team responsible for creating, developing and championing action-led ideas that deliver value to the consumers we serve. The incumbent must have a proven track record of both creating and inspiring innovative, effective marketing communications campaigns that both build brands and drive sales.

This person is equally at ease creating high-production value TV spots as well as quick turn, low cost, buzz generating social posts, and everything in between (including packaging executions).

The Creative Director should also be an exceptional strategic thinker and capable of influencing at senior levels and with fellow creative team members. They should enjoy leading and mentoring creative teams. Extensive digital experience is required. And Retail or Health Care advertising chops would be a plus. Candidates with a background in either art or copy will be considered.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Oversee the design direction and execution of brand design strategy across our portfolio of brands 
  • Evolve the visual language of brands and continue to hone in on the brand systems to create styles that become iconic 
  • Develop original breakthrough ideas and conceptual and expressive brand design for a variety of touch-points across digital, print, motion, retail, packaging, campaigns, OOH, and events & experiential 
  • Partner with external agencies and partnerson delivering the above, as well as internal cross functional teams – including the media/connections planning team, shopper teams, brand teams, production and content team as well as insights teams to design and lead communications for specific areas of the business 
  • Work cross-functionally, balancing the needs of stakeholders and breaking down complex briefs into simple, compelling ideas and highly-engaging, world-class design 
  • Drive the development of new capabilities 
  • Lead and mentor creative team members (social designer, lead designer, animator). There may be brands where we do not have an external agency – and the internal team would have to lean in and own/deliver. 
  • Support a culture of creativity, innovation, and passion for great, effective creative work

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Communications, Design

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years experience in the advertising and cpg industry, with experience in managing agencies, creative processes, direct teams, and cross functional initiatives.

Other Characteristics

  • Ability to work expertly in all major social media platforms 
  • Extensive digital background and understanding of digital tools and best practices 
  • Knowledge of working on integrated campaigns for national brands 
  • Capable of strategic thinking, big idea generation and video/digital production 
  • Ability to create and lead the development of award-winning communications 
  • Ability to navigate a complex organization with multi-stakeholders 
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills 
  • Proficient with the Adobe CS family of programs
