The Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC) serves as a performing arts community gathering space in Southeastern Wisconsin, bringing high-quality arts and cultural programming to the region for over 50 years. As a mission-based non-profit organization located in downtown Milwaukee, MPAC strives to act as an energizing force that connects the community to the world through collaboration, innovation, social engagement, and the transformative power of performing arts.

Through multiple performance series and community events, MPAC brings a diverse range of celebrated performing arts to the region. Presented series include Broadway at the Marcus Center, MPAC Presents, Dance, Jazz, National Geographic LIVE, Rainbow Summer, and additional special performances from internationally renowned artists.

MPAC's education, community engagement, and inclusion initiatives provide free experiences both at the Center and within the community that engage young audiences through the performing arts and annually serve students and life-long learners in Milwaukee. Additionally, MPAC serves as home to five major resident companies including Black Arts MKE, Milwaukee Ballet, Florentine Opera, First Stage Children’s Theater, and MYSO.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Creative Manager is responsible for development and management of graphic and video communications promoting Marcus Performing Arts Center (MPAC) for the organization and all the events presented or promoted by MPAC. This position maintains brand standards and the voice of the organization by ensuring compliance across all communications channels while working with internal stakeholders to develop, create, and tell compelling stories around MPAC announcements, events and initiatives that resonate with target audiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help facilitate ongoing, timely and accurate communications to ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget. 
  • Advise on design strategies and collaborate on messages to best engage a given audience 
  • Create visual concepts that inspire, inform and captivate key audiences or market segments
  • Develop layout and manage production for all print collateral, advertisements, online digital, video and other creative communication channels 
  • Oversees agencies/ vendors to create and implement media and content marketing placements across owned, paid, and earned channels that engages our target audiences effectively 
  • Assist in telling the story of the MPAC mission in various visual formats to enhance overall image of MPAC 
  • Maintain the MPAC Brand across all platforms, establish brand consistency and implement new branding strategies as needed 
  • Create and publish digital and print playbills and other required organizational publications 
  • Create and coordinate internal and customer facing building and event signage 
  • Manage digital screen content throughout building 
  • Assist with the design, funnel, and user experience of the MPAC website and mobile app 
  • Assist with photography and videography as needed, especially for outreach and education programs and/or Development efforts 
  • Communication with internal and external parties regarding design needs and establishing schedules to deliver projects on time 
  • Supervise outside agency assets and freelance artists as needed. 
  • Collaborates with members of the marketing team to support and enhance creative projects.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and abilities required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably within the live events/entertainment business or agency setting 
  • Proven graphic design and project management skills 
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe creative suite required along with standard graphic design programs (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, etc.) 
  • Proven working experience in digital media content development 
  • Understanding of printing process 
  • Video creation and editing skills are a plus 
  • Animation experience is a plus

  • Solid understanding of marketing and how to employ design to generate response from patrons 
  • Must be able to balance art direction with collaboration to process feedback and execute on creative input 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, producing creative design work that is fast and accurate.
