Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time Curator of Education and Outreach to join our Grohmann Museum staff. Working closely with the Museum Director and the VP of Marketing & Community Engagement, this individual will be responsible for Museum archival resource management, marketing, and educational programs and outreach.

Essential Job Functions

This individual is responsible for all museum education functions, including:

  • Museum tour management 
  • Docent recruitment, retention, and education 
  • Marketing and community outreach 
  • Educational programs, workshops, lectures, and presentations 
  • Library and archives management and dissemination 
  • General museum support 

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Museum facilities maintenance and security 
  • Assistance in museum collections inventory and management 
  • Faculty and staff liaison for education programs and opportunities 
  • Membership and program support 
  • Donor relations and all other Museum duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in art, history, or related field 
  • Demonstrated success in a museum or educational environment 
  • Competence in database management and Microsoft Office fluency 

Language Skills

  • A history of scholarly research and public speaking 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence 
  • Excellent communication in both written and oral form 

Mathematical Skills

  • General math and data management skills required 

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions. 

Physical Demands

  • Must be mobile to cover Museum gallery tours and educational programs 
  • Ability to lift ~20lbs. for library and archives management and inventory 

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers, phones, cash registers and security systems. 
  • Work in a fun, educational, dynamic environment in which positive public engagement is essential. 
  • Must be willing to flex schedule to accommodate after-hours activities and events.
