Position Details

Custom Marketing and Communications Manager
Twin Cities Metro
Eden Prairie, MN

As a member of the Financial Services Marketing Team, this position is responsible for writing and managing the member communications execution designed to attract and activate consumers in Optum programs in order to achieve program participation and value targets. This position will have direct involvement in writing and developing custom marketing communications in all markets.

Additionally, the ideal candidate must have demonstrated the ability to execute against multiple projects and excel in a fast paced, results oriented work environment. You must be highly motived, rollup your sleeves, self-starter with a passion for communicating in new and disruptive ways. You should thrive on seeking new insights, finding creative solutions and measuring results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute custom client strategies that are consumer centric and data driven, to activate and engage consumers in Optum Financial Services programs, in order to achieve program goals and objectives. 
  • Create content and digital strategies that are both custom and standard to help educate consumers on health saving and spending in unique and interactive ways 
  • Direct involvement with Product and other cross-functional teams to deliver omni-channel communication and engagement strategies and achieve desired level of consumer engagement that spans across one or more business units 
  • Develop and deliver impactful communication and custom strategies, campaigns and tactics that cross direct mail, email, web, social media and mobile platforms in partnership with the Campaign Manager to execute on communications strategy and campaign plans to engage consumers and employers in new and disruptive ways 
  • Work on complex projects where deadlines and scope can shift frequently. You'll need flexibility, agility and the ability to adapt to change while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in a highly cross-matrixed environment 
  • Create custom, relevant and valuable content for key clients to attract, acquire and retain consumers in their health, and financial wellness 
  • Maintain effective brand voice management that contributes to consumer engagement. 
  • Drive custom communications plans for key clients 
  • Lead and coordinate consumer research required to gain member insight 
  • Anticipates customer (product) and marketplace needs and proactively develop solutions to meet them 
  • Manage a large volume of simple to complex projects for several constituents across the Financial Services organization 
  • Build collaborative partnerships with internal business clients in all functional areas of the company 
  • Align and socialize collective objectives and detailed project plans for key product registration and digital consumer experience across the organization 
  • Assist in the development of strategic plans, value propositions, business cases, operational requirements, and branding guidelines 
  • Identify and drive cross promotional/integration opportunities across the Financial Services product suite to drive activation and efficiencies 
  • Participate in and activate process improvements related to work, including partner processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience 
  • 5+ years creating dynamic and comprehensive content strategy 
  • 5+ years communications and/or consumer marketing work experience in a matrix organization 
  • Extremely strong written communication and editing skills for a variety of media types (writing samples required) 
  • Directing digital and web sites with development team and creative team 
  • Has written internal communications, external articles, blogs potentially published 
  • Cross-functional project management experience 
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint 
  • High energy, detail oriented and creative individual 
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively shift back and forth from a variety of projects and priorities 
  • Demonstrates the ability to act and react quickly to changes and challenges 
  • Familiarity with a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and frequent changes 
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across a wide range of groups and functions 
  • Contribute to and enhance execution excellence and quality control

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years social media and consumer research experience 
  • Financial services or banking experience 
  • Healthcare industry experience 
  • Experience interpreting primary and secondary research
