Database Specialist

Outreach is hiring a part-time Database Specialist at Outreach Central Office to be responsible for managing and optimizing Outreach’s donor database, ensuring data integrity, streamlining gift processing, and supporting fundraising initiatives. The Database Specialist will work closely with the Director of Data and the Senior Development Officer, contributing directly to the success of Outreach’s fundraising efforts. This position requires a deep understanding of database management, data analysis, and strong collaboration skills to support Outreach’s resource development team. The Database Specialist will report to the Director of Data.   

Responsibilities:

• The Data Specialist will maintain and improve donor database documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• The Data Specialist will assist in integrating donor database software with other systems (Auction, Volunteer, Financial, etc.) and ensure seamless data flow across platforms.
• The Data Specialist will oversee gift processing, including deposits, coding, reconciliations, and collaboration with the Controller for audit support.
• The Data Specialist will ensure accurate and timely data entry following Outreach’s data standards, with a focus on data integrity and confidentiality.
• The Data Specialist will manage user access and security protocols for donor data, performing regular maintenance and data checks to ensure accuracy.
• The Data Specialist will develop and generate business and fundraising reports for leadership, highlighting key metrics like donor giving patterns, event revenue, and expense-to-revenue ratios.
• The Data Specialist will collaborate with the Senior Development Officer on revenue forecasting, predictive modeling, and donor analysis to optimize fundraising strategies.
• The Data Specialist will provide database training and support to team members, ensuring effective use of the donor database and tools.
• Schedule: 28 hours per week. Monday - Thursday, 7 hours/day, 4 days a week. From 9:30am - 5pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree; at least 4 years of systems administration experience with proficiency in a relational database or CRM.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized with a keen attention to detail; strong technical ability and intermediate to advanced computer and software skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Accurate numerical entry ability; ability to problem solve, research and develop effective processes and systems for a new database.
• Expert skill in visualizing data through charts, graphs, etc.
• Previous procedure and system development experience.
• Functional knowledge of donor tax receipting guidelines and PCI compliance guidelines.
• Familiarity with SQL coding language and Tableau a plus. 
• A commitment to Outreach’s Statement of Christian Mission and Faith.
