Purpose:

  • Provide creative direction, graphic design, copywriting and delivery of communications in tandem with the Mission Advancement Team, targeting varied audiences (donors, parents, staff, church members)
  • Foster community through storytelling and invite people to connect with St. Marcus School’s mission
  • Support event communications and campaigns, including: St. Marcus’ Annual Benefit Gala, Discover America (experiential educational programming), fundraising initiatives, community engagement projects, and ministry-wide functions

Essential Functions:

  • Attend planning meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Plan and curate strategic content and build relationships through social media Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn
  • Maintain the St. Marcus website and develop plans for improved functionality
  • Plan and execute email marketing campaigns that inspire action 
  • Design for print projects such as fundraising appeals, postcards, flyers, business cards, newsletters, event invitations, signage and other promotional materials
  • Write clear, compelling and creative copy for various mediums (newsletters, social media, emails, website, etc.)
  • Support special events as needed (logistics, photography, communications)
  • Work alongside church members, parents and staff to assist in executing special projects 
  • Build relationships with donors, staff and outside vendors 
  • Participate in professional development and training
  • Photography/video experience a plus

Education/Experience:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field
  • Understanding of communications and marketing best practices
  • Ability to write and edit creative copy that tells a compelling story
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite or similar design platforms, and a willingness to seek learning opportunities that further develop skills
  • 1-3 years of work experience preferred, and/or strong portfolio of project work
  • Affinity or experience in a nonprofit setting preferred
