Frank Mayer and Associates, Inc., is a leader in designing, engineering, and producing creative interactive kiosks and in-store merchandising displays. We are searching for a Design Engineer to join our team of Engineers. The Engineers’ job at FMA is to work with project management and our prototyping shop to determine the most practical and cost-effective way to engineer our made-to-order interactive kiosks and retail displays for production.

  • Engineering cost conscious, production-ready display concepts from sketches or electronic 3D concept models with a focused eye on preserving design intent. 
  • Creating 3d mechanical design geometry, detailed drawings, and bills of materials using Solidworks.
  • Troubleshooting design and production issues as they arise.
  • Ensuring that displays meet client needs and safety requirements (ex.ADA and UL). 
  • Specifying and ordering prototype materials and hardware.
  • Specifying production methods. 
  • Approving prototype and production parts. 
  • Researching new products, innovations and technologies for use in future designs. 
  • Assisting model shop in prototype assembly if necessary. 
  • Specifying assembly procedures and supplying necessary instruction sheet assets to production art for production and assembly.
  • Following ePDM procedures for data management.
  • The ability to conceptualize the best way to actualize a design, considering such factors as structural integrity, cost effectiveness, ease of assembly, ease of maintenance and practicality of production in quantity. 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly.
  • An adaptable, flexible and open-minded nature. 
  • 3-5 years of mechanical design experience in a product or display design/development environment. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials necessary to design practical and efficient assemblies. 
  • Ability to work on multiple products simultaneously, ability to manage time with overlapping project schedules. 
  • High level of proficiency with Solidworks.
  • Comfort with a collaborative approach to solutions in a team environment. 
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial design.
