The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is seeking to fill a full-time vacancy for a Designer.

UW-Milwaukee’s University Relations Division is hiring a designer to help tell our story in a stunning visual manner. The designer will work on a wide-range of deliverables, including publications, print and digital ads and environmental materials. This position involves consulting with faculty/staff and other clients to determine their needs for visual materials as part of department, program and project communication plans. A significant part of this job is being able to interpret clients’ messages in a visual manner and help them determine appropriate formats. It involves design at all phases of production for print and electronic media and mentoring of student staff. Materials created support the university, its activities and programs, including classroom instruction, research, student recruitment/retention, public service/outreach, and public relations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, advertising, communications or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a professional graphic designer using InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience at an advertising agency, graphic design firm or part of an in-house marketing team.
  • Demonstrated excellence in graphic design for print and digital platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, exercise sound judgment and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success art directing photoshoots or working with photographers.Experience in project management: meeting deadlines, managing budgets, leading a team, following a project process.
  • Experience working with or for an institution of higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, lead on ideas and manage relationships within a large, diverse organizational structure and culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within brand standards.Experience working with WordPress, content management systems or HTML email systems (such as Emma, Constant Contact, etc.)
