Midwest Environmental Advocates (MEA) is a non-profit, public interest environmental law center dedicated to protecting public rights to a clean environment. We provide legal and technical services to individuals, community groups and local governments facing environmental threats. In addition to providing direct services, we work to build the power of grassroots community movements by equipping people with skills and knowledge and connecting them to a statewide network of local leaders.

We are seeking a creative self-starter to support the Director of Development and Communications in implementing effective fundraising and communications strategies. A successful candidate will build upon strong internal fundraising systems, an active fundraising & communications committee, and close relationships with statewide media. This is a part-time (.5 FTE) position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with fundraising activities, including year-end appeal, the Big Share and workplace giving; 
  • Maintain donor database by performing accurate and efficient data entry; 
  • Manage donor acknowledgement process to ensure all donors are thanked in a timely way; 
  • Prepare and manage donor mailing lists; 
  • Coordinate and manage occasional volunteers as needed for mailing assembly; 
  • Track progress toward fundraising goals; 
  • Assist with event planning; 
  • Generate monthly fundraising reports; 
  • Maintain media contact database; 
  • Create and schedule social media posts; 
  • Track social media metrics; 
  • Maintain communications calendar; 
  • Provide general administrative support 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • proficiency and experience in MS Office (Word, Excel), and database management systems; 
  • experience in fundraising and communications work; 
  • excellent oral and written communication skills; 
  • ability to work independently, ask questions and work in a team environment; 
  • enthusiasm for building relationships with donors and community partners; 
  • high-level organizational and time-management skills; 
  • proficiency in social media platforms and general graphic design experience

Compensation is dependent on experience and qualifications. In addition, MEA offers a generous benefits package including medical, dental, long-term disability, and a retirement plan with employer match. Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare, and commuter expenses are also available, as well as very generous paid time off. All benefits will be prorated for .5 FTE.
