The Development Coordinator helps Milwaukee Habitat achieve its mission by maintaining database integrity and supporting fund development efforts. This position is accountable for all database functions including gift-processing, acknowledgment, and reporting. The position is responsible for fulfilling public-sector grant compliance requirements. The Development Coordinator also contributes to fundraising success by providing event and committee support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Gift Processing:

  • Process donations and pledges. 
  • Produce acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders. 
  • Create donation and pledge reports. 
  • Reconcile gifts with the Finance department.

Grant Compliance:

  • Fulfill public-sector compliance requirements. 
  • Complete grant reports for national partnerships.

Events:

  • Assist in Gala, Women Build, and Komatsu Golf Outing planning.
  • Prepare mailing lists and track RSVPs.
  • Assist with set-up and check-in. Solicit and track Gala auction donations.

Additional Activities:

  • Manage annual employee giving and United Way campaign. 
  • Manage department volunteer(s) by organizing projects. 
  • Prepare meeting materials for the Development Committee and event planning committees. 
  • Support the Executive Director with Board of Directors meeting preparation.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required 
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant fund development experience, particularly in gift entry, database management and fundraising events. 
  • Must have a valid driver license

Knowledge / Skills:

  • Knowledge of fund development strategies, including donor cultivation, recognition and stewardship. 
  • Knowledge of development database software, online gift processing tools and event management software. 
  • Experience working with committees. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, and/or Google Docs. 
  • Familiarity with finance and accounting practices and software a plus. 
  • Project management skills a plus.

Ability to:

  • Articulate the mission and impact of Milwaukee Habitat. 
  • Analyze data and learn data entry processes and procedures. 
  • Effectively set priorities to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Compensation:

  • $16 to $18 per hour 
  • Hourly / Non-exempt with full benefit package 
  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, evening/weekend availability occasionally required.
