We are looking for a Development Director. The candidate must be highly motivated, organized, have strong communication and excellent customer service skills. Some sales and customer service experience is preferred. Knowledge in print, online, events and social media is a plus but not a requirement. An eagerness to learn is the requirement. We are looking for a person who can build our membership program, bring in event sponsors and fundraise to help cover important news topics.

Membership

  • Help grow Shepherd Express membership program utilizing multiple communication channels with marketing campaigns which include print, digital, eblasts, e-newsletters, social media etc.
  • Fulfill membership obligations per membership levels 

Sponsorships

  • Sell various sponsorship packages for multiple fun events throughout the year including presenting sponsors, glass sponsors, liquor sponsors and stage sponsors 

Fundraising

  • Raise funds for special news reporting or to bring in funds to support local stories and independent journalism. 

Requirements

  • Must be able to work Independently 
  • Be competitive and love to win 
  • Interested in learning about businesses, nonprofit organizations and what is happening in our community 
  • Have strong communication and diplomatic skills 
  • Have strong ties to the local community 
  • Be organized and have the ability to meet deadlines in a high paced environment 
  • Enjoy developing creative solutions for clients 
  • Have a vehicle 
  • Available for full time employment 
  • Should be comfortable with cold calling
