The development office is a vital department at St. Joan Antida High School that secures crucial funding for the school’s operating and program-specific financial needs. This internship experience will provide students the opportunity to help our department share the “SJA Story” with alumni and community partners, in efforts to ultimately raise funds. Student interns will be able to fine-tune and diversify their writing skills as they gain experience writing for print, web and e-communication publications. Student interns will also gain an understanding of potential career paths in alumni relations, public relations, event planning and advancement/fundraising.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interview alumni, SJA supporters and SJA faculty/staff for print, web and e-publications.
  • Draft compelling stories on interviewed alumni and supporters for various media uses (includes monthly alumni spotlights).
  • Assist with data entry and maintaining accurate alumni/donor database.
  • Assist with preparing print materials for the department, including special event invitations, marketing pieces, donor visit packets, appeal letters, acknowledgment letters, etc.
  • Assist with writing alumni/high school news stories for quarterly newsletter.Assist with marketing/admissions efforts in providing content for SJA’s social media sites, writing content for the alumni/giving sections of the SJA website and helping prepare for site tours, etc.
  • Assist with the management and successful execution all special events (including alumni and donor events), organized and managed by the development department.
  • Help in managing the development department photo galleries.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current student, enrolled in a two- or four-year degree program within the College/University/Tech school setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Confident, friendly, and reliable
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with donor/alumni information
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products
  • Proficiency using social media and web-based programs
  • Passion for the SJA mission

Unpaid internship, approx. 10-15 hours per week
