JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Executive Director and in harmony with the policies and goals of the Board of Directors, the Director of Finance shall be responsible for providing strategic direction for, and administering, the financial and business operations of the organization. This includes oversight of building use, care and maintenance; financial reporting and analysis, budget planning, preparation and development; administration of legal and insurance issues, human resource matters, and implementation of business and management systems. The Finance Director shall serve as a member of the leadership team, devoting a portion of time and energies to broad concepts and interrelationships with the organization. The Finance Director shall work closely with the Executive Director and other staff in preparing and interpreting financial data, recommending workable proposals and formulating goals and policies regarding the financial control and administration of the Radio Milwaukee's assets. The Finance Director shall represent the Executive Director and Radio Milwaukee as directed by the Executive Director in relationships with the business community, financial institutions, suppliers and insurance companies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Lead all financial activities of Radio Milwaukee within approved policies and financial parameters, insuring systems are in place for timely delivery. Serve as key leader to the following committees of the Board: Finance Committee Facilities/Tech Committee Lead the overall operation of the Finance, Human Resource, Information Technology and facilities functions. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting systems, including but not limited to: Preparation and publishing of monthly and annual financial reports Proper accounting for, and compliance with, donor-restricted funds Grant accounting and reporting Administration of federal and state tax returns Design, develop and maintain financial models and reports for the Executive Director and Board, as necessary for: Projected cash flow and debt Analysis of financial position Long- and short-term planning Analysis and formation of operational strategy Responsible for capital expense planning, including: Reviewing and approving contracts Assessing and reporting the need and feasibility for additional capital improvements Providing hands-on financial planning and execution to ensure optimum return on assets Lead the planning, preparation and implementation of the annual operating budget, including: Managing expenditures within the approved budgets to assure that financial stability is maintained. Manage operations of the facility: Maintain contracts and operations with facility lessee. Establish and maintain policies for facility maintenance and ensure compliance Maintain relationships with government entities regarding compliance with property tax and other requirements Establish and maintain operational policies regarding facility rental and related income Responsible for the annual independent audit and other audits, as necessary. Oversight of Human Resource functions, including payroll, benefits, and compliance. Establish and maintain bank accounts and short-term investments necessary to carry on the operating needs. Borrow, retire debt and maintain bank relations. Project and manage cash and working capital requirements. Work with legal counsel on matters that require legal interpretation, including review of contracts prior to signing. Administer all insurance programs in force at Radio Milwaukee, including employee health and dental, life, disability, property, and general liability.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

A college degree in Accounting or Business Administration and five years of experience as a Controller or CFO are preferred.

Non-profit and Fund Accounting experience preferred. MBA preferred; CPA is a plus.

Position requires skills in business administration, budget preparation and control, data processing and information systems as well as practical knowledge of accounting, computer operations, record keeping, and financial management procedures.

Strong supervisory and staff development skills and the ability to relate to staff in a positive professional manner are required.

The Finance Director must be able to guarantee work of a consistent high quality. An ability to relate effectively as counsel to the Executive Director, staff and the Board on fiscal matters is necessary.

Knowledge of and adherence to various rules, regulations, legal statutes, guidelines and policies necessary for the sound operation of Radio Milwaukee is critical.
