About the Role:

Morningstar’s Creative Services team is looking for an exceptionally talented Designer who is deeply passionate about the craft of design in support of premier and best-in-class digital experiences. In this role, you will contribute to design activities and produce design artifacts to support digital experiences across our domains. You will work to communicate Morningstar’s mission and value through design on our digital marketing experience to accelerate business opportunities.

This position is based out of our Chicago office.

Responsibilities:

  • Design a wide variety of digital-based content, including web experiences, design systems, data visualizations, case studies, blog posts, interactive experiences. 
  • Proactively engage in a collaborative design process from discovery, definition, and development to deliver engaging B2B solutions. 
  • Demonstrate core design skills—especially concerning typography, composition, information hierarchy, and data visualization—to create delightful, engaging experiences that reinforce the Morningstar brand. 
  • Solve challenging information and communication design problems and be able to present multiple concepts for consideration, with sound rationale. 
  • Collaborate on competitive assessments and gather inputs to inform a strategy or vision. 
  • Present design solutions to cross-functional teams, be open to feedback and work to understand how and when to defend design choices. 
  • Incorporate Morningstar design systems, brand standards, and experiences while educating both stakeholders and engineers. 
  • Connect and communicate with other design teams within Morningstar.
  • You have a strong background with experience creating a range of interfaces, large-scale websites, or applications. 
  • Collaborative experience contributing to projects that consider innovation and usability; someone who listens and anticipates the needs, concerns, and input from multiple teams. 
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in digital/visual design, a related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • 2+ years of experience in design and UX research for digital products and interactions, large-scale websites, or applications. 
  • Demonstrated design skills, especially concerning information hierarchy, typography, and data visualization. 
  • Ability to present design solutions to project teams and other stakeholders. 
  • Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc. 
  • Knowledge of CMS platforms, HTML, and CSS is a plus. 
  • Ability to be flexible and handle multiple projects and re-prioritizations. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; self-directed, comfortable working independently, and able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. 
  • A deep curiosity and desire to learn new technologies and methods and build great products. 
  • Have an enthusiastic and engaging presentation style and visual communication skills.
