The UW E-Business Consortium (UWEBC) is a university-industry partnership that was founded in December 1998 to provide companies a trusted, non-commercial environment to learn about business best practices and emerging technologies, and interact collaboratively with each other to share their companies’ experiences and lessons learned. More than 65 leading companies (primarily headquartered in Wisconsin) are members of UWEBC. This represents a very powerful knowledge-network – The UWEBC allows executives and senior managers to tap into the collective wisdom and experiences of this diverse group of companies to help them make informed decisions, mitigate risk and maximize success with the initiatives that they are leading in their own companies. The UWEBC is a unique organization and has gained wide recognition – This initiative has been formally identified as a strategic campus priority by the UW-Madison administration; It has also been recognized individually by Governors Thompson, McCallum and Doyle as a model for how university-industry collaboration can help Wisconsin businesses become more competitive. UWEBC is highly successful and respected, and has continued to grow and thrive even during the recent economic downturn.
