Valley Natural Foods is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist.

Responsibilities include the following:

Website and Analytics

  • Design or assist with design and production of web graphics and other digital marketing materials. 
  • Work with Communications Specialist to maintain the website by consistently creating and formatting images and content for the home page, landing pages, and banners. Adhere to brand standards. 
  • Copy, edit, and proofread all web content 
  • Utilize metrics to track impact on audience, content, views, and competition. Consult with Marketing Manager and team to create new tactics or develop successful campaigns. Assist Marketing Manager in using data to develop strategies for increasing sales, advertising events, engaging various audiences in authentic dialogue and differentiating the co-op from its competitors.

Responsibilities (continued):

External Communications

  • Create ads and marketing communication pieces for all digital avenues for the Valley Community Food Co-op Family of Brands, including website, online shopping (ecommerce), digital and social. Incorporate images and text, formatting, proofing, and adhering to brand standards. 
  • Support Marketing Brand Manager with proofreading marketing projects 
  • Send weekly e-newsletter emails and manage all email marketing campaigns for three brands 
  • Manage and coordinate the Family of Brands entire social media presence, including messaging, paid ads, and traditional and boosted content (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google, local community website event postings, etc.). Plan, write, develop, and update online content. Address and help resolve customer complaints posted via social media. 
  • Stay current and adaptable to changing social media systems. Read relevant publications and attend webinars/classes as time and budget allow. 
  • Work with Demo, Education and Events Coordinator to manage giving and donations. Track all requested and fulfilled donations.

Photography and Videography

  • Develop educational videos for online platforms 
  • Photograph, format, optimize and upload images needed for digital media platforms including ads, social media, and miscellaneous posts 
  • Work with Marketing Team on photo shoots for recipes, online and marketing materials 
  • Manage image library and ensure it is searchable and up to date 
  • Work with Communications Specialist for food styling for photo shoots

Other, As Requested

  • Participate in branding audits, training, and support 
  • Assist with in-store and outreach events, Annual Meeting and Annual Festival 
  • Attend and participate in departmental, editorial, and promotional planning meetings 
  • Coordinate with Marketing Brand Manager on other projects

Business Operations, Safety and Compliance

  • Alert Management of potential theft or other emergencies 
  • Keep department areas - shelves, counters, aisles, backstock -- in clean, orderly condition 
  • Remove trash promptly, clean up spills, sweep floor as needed 
  • Keep department equipment in working order and advise Marketing Manager of equipment problems 
  • Attend Marketing staff meetings and other assigned training requirements 
  • Perform any other duty as assigned by Management Team

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Marketing, Graphic Design or Digital Communications or related field with 1-3+ years previous marketing experience, or equivalent 
  • English proficiency; Friendly customer service with a sense of urgency 
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of social media platforms and strategic planning, including backdoor utilization, analytics presentation, customer interaction and marketing campaigns.
  • Strong project management and organization skills with demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems 
  • Ability to work independently or on a team with ability to meet deadlines, coordinate projects and work varied hours and days, including occasional nights or weekends to accommodate events. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Experience with Mailchimp or similar platform. 
  • Strong technical aptitude to learn and adapt to changing technology. 
  • Strong organizational, time management and communication skills (spoken, listening, & written). 
  • High ethical standards with personal integrity with the ability to convey a positive public image, acting in the best interests of the business. 
  • Demonstrated objectivity, neutrality, and calmness under pressure and timely follow-through to commitments 
  • Detail oriented, able to multi-task and remain flexible to the changing needs of the business
  • Regular, predictable attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ecommerce metrics and advertising. 
  • Previous experience with video editing software. 
  • 3-5+ years previous marketing experience, or a B.S. degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field. 
  • Previous experience in the following areas: Food Styling; Photography; Professional Writing and Copywriting; Creative Writing and Editing; and Desktop Publishing. 
  • Strong understanding of the retail, grocery/co-op, natural/organic food industry.
