Position Details:

The Digital Production Artist is a production-based position responsible for editing, manipulating, processing digital product images and creating vector-based art. These images are created by the Grainger's internal Visual Teams and provided from outside suppliers.

This role creates unique product images through advanced digital image manipulation including pixel and vector-based techniques for both print and digital ecommerce.

You will report to the Supervisor, Photo Studio.

You Will:

  • Exceed Publishing standards to perform role. 
  • Document and update guidelines. 
  • Post-production image editing work which includes: identifying where existing image assets can be repurposed and create images when they do not exist, color correction, compositing and enhancing details on images created at Grainger as well supplier provided images using advanced Adobe Photoshop techniques. 
  • Create images (photographs, illustrations, and icons) through pixel or vector-based methods. 
  • Implement production solutions or recommend when image creation is better achieved though post-production retouching work instead of traditional photography or CGI. 
  • Monitor deliverable progress, manage scope changes and changes requests, meet commitments & follow up. 
  • Manage the overflow (back log) of work that is outsourced through a third-party vendor. 
  • Adapt and comprehend Grainger's WorkStation software and DAM systems. 
  • Process and ensure accuracy of Grainger's DAM repository of over two million images and additional assets (logos, line art and enhanced content assets) 
  • Enhance and manage current retouching style guidelines, published processes and system steps. 
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and solve imaging process failures. 
  • Develop working relationships with teams and partners, including international teams in Panama, Mexico and Canada. 
  • Standardize production procedures and implement improvements encouraged.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of advanced retouching experience. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic arts or related field preferred. 
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge) 
  • PC Based; as well as familiarity with sizing and manipulating images for web and print. 
  • Ability to adapt to new processes, software tools and changes. 
  • Be on the pulse of industry trends in the eCommerce visuals. 
  • Knowledge of SpinMe Studio, 360 photography, Capture One and Modo/Maya a plus. 
  • Experience with JIRA & Smart Sheets.
