The director is an innovative professional prepared to lead the strategic growth of Marquette University’s online donor base and overall digital fundraising program. Working collaboratively with the Annual Giving team, s/he will create an integrated, engaging and effective approach to fundraising communications and solicitations utilizing email, social media, mobile/texting, recurring giving, peer-to-peer outreach and crowdfunding. This director will develop best practices for fundraising across digital, mobile, social media and developing channels. S/he will use communications to demonstrate the need for funding scholarships, academic programs, research and more, while communicating the impact of private support. S/he will promote Marquette’s mission, brand and advancement efforts in the context of a rapidly-changing communications landscape. There will be strong emphasis on increasing the number of undergraduate alumni donors through this important work.

  • Collaborate, design, and/or help lead on the development of annual strategic plan and budget for all digital channels, including annual revenue goals, expense projections and new donor acquisition goals. 
  • Partner with direct mail team on integrated cross-channel fundraising strategies directed at renewals, lapsed donors and non-donors. 
  • Partner with student and young alumni giving officers on integrated cross-channel fundraising strategies for student and young alumni segments. 
  • Ensure all digital fundraising offers a great user experience and is created within the Marquette brand. 
  • Develop and test new initiatives and innovative and emerging concepts for fundraising. 
  • Create and manage a digital fundraising calendar across platforms. 
  • Develop and maintain a recurring donor program. 
  • Along with the advancement associate, build and maintain a crowdfunding program.
  • Enhance and ultimately maintain Annual Giving web pages. 
  • Work closely with the Office of Marketing and Communication as well as Alumni Engagement to ensure implementation of key touchpoints across digital media to foster donor cultivation. 
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors.
  • Continually monitor trends in digital fundraising. 
  • Analyze key performance indicators to identify channel insights and recommend optimization tactics.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Experience in annual fundraising or similar work, strong knowledge of current and developing online fundraising strategies, social media, mobile and new technologies. 
  • Must understand best practices across multiple platforms and develop best practices for emerging media types. 
  • Strong written and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders across the university. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and goals as well as a true team player who understands how to work productively in a team environment. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Adobe Photoshop skills. 
  • Familiarity with a variety of resources to keep up-to-date on the latest news in digital fundraising.
