Director, Communications & Public Affairs

Your Role:

The Director, Communications & Public Affairs is an integral leader within the Communications team, focused on creating and executing effective communication strategies and plans for Home Partners and its brands. This role is a trusted partner to senior management and works to support and build the company’s reputation through effective engagement with key stakeholder groups. Reports to the SVP, Communications & Public Affairs.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with leaders across the organization to develop and deliver messaging and integrated communications plans that reach, engage, and inspire diverse audiences, both internally and externally 
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, providing communications counsel to senior leaders of the organization including assisting in preparation for media interactions and public appearances 
  • Bring, build and maintain relationships with editors, reporters and influencers to ensure fair, accurate and balanced media coverage of Home Partners and its brands 
  • Develop issues management processes and plans; work closely with senior management across functions to anticipate, plan, respond, and learn from issues faced by the business 
  • Use monitoring and measurement tools that lead to insights for continuous improvement across communications strategies and execution 
  • Participate in brand strategy discussions; works collaboratively with Marketing to shape and execute refreshed brand architecture and visual identity 
  • Provide vision and leadership related to content development and deployment to various audiences including customers, media, employees and other stakeholders 
  • Ensure that best practices for corporate communications are applied across all functions; collaborate with teams in all functions to help inform strategic business decisions; anticipate stakeholder issues and manage the associated risks

What we look for:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in communications and public relations 
  • Proven media relations experience required 
  • Superior communication skills including impeccable writing for business and consumer audiences 
  • Impeccable judgement and ability to navigate high-profile situations with a calm, positive demeanor 
  • Ability to effectively influence, collaborate, and communicate at all levels of the organization 
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and project management skills 
  • Experience managing complex, deadline-driven situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously 
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and media monitoring and listening tools 
  • Affinity for creative and non-traditional communication platforms (including social networks)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in communications or MBA is a plus 
  • Experience within real estate and/or other regulated industries not required but beneficial
