The Director, Communications & Public Relations, is responsible for executing, developing, and leading the Company's overall communications strategy, including public relations, media relations, crisis communications, internal communications, and social media/community functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Corporate Communications

  • Develop corporate narrative and messaging pillars – and activate this throughout communications programs. 
  • Align communications strategy with business strategy. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across the organization to deliver on communications strategy. 
  • Build relationships and serve as a trusted communications advisor to initiative leads and subject matter specialists. 
  • Own and manage communication agency partner relationships.
  • Lead and manage communications aspects of marketing-communications integrated campaigns, supporting marketing colleagues with communication tactics and strategies. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with department heads and the leadership team to effectively understand business needs. 
  • Build, train, and retain an exceptional team of communications professionals. 
  • Be a problem solver for day to day communications needs.

Public Relations

  • Develop and advance the strategy and voice for executive communications, including speaking engagements, media interviews, media preparation, and internal communications. 
  • Lead a robust media relations function, focusing on delivering exceptional results that effectively position the Company with appropriate media and key external stakeholders. 
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with journalists and influencers. 
  • Develop and lead a thought leadership program, including training and media prep for spokespersons. 
  • Support the execution of executive media engagement programs and speaking engagements; review/draft and approve supporting materials such as key message documents, Q&A, and other briefing materials. 
  • Lead a regular cadence of outreach and education to media and key external stakeholders. 
  • Lead long term planning for media engagement strategies to get ahead of issues and take advantage of opportunities. 
  • Lead communications to key internal partners within the business regarding media issues and competitor news.

Social Media

  • Own and manage Company social media channels, including message strategy and paid post campaigns. 
  • Provide input into existing organizational social media strategies and content planning. 
  • Train internal business leaders and market-facing staff to use personal social media channels to advance Company reputation.

Internal Communication

  • Develop, execute and lead overall internal communications strategy to effectively inform and engage colleagues in advancing the organization's purpose, including managing all internal communication channels, tactics, and tools (e.g., Intranet, e-newsletters, digital screens, etc.). 
  • Provide communications counsel and support to executive leadership and department leaders and managers to foster an internal understanding of its purpose and values and advance knowledge and support of Company goals, priorities, and strategies. 
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of communication for enterprise-wide initiatives and announcements to build awareness and drive action with critical internal stakeholder audiences – including change management communications.

Crisis Communication

  • Lead crisis communications efforts, including integrated (owned, social, paid, internal) communications response to crisis and issues management situations.

Measurement

  • Responsible for data analyzing and reporting on communication to determine the overall success of campaigns/initiatives and determine actionable insights.
  • BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, advertising, journalism, English, business administration, fine arts, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 5+ years of excellent writing, editing, and copy-editing experience in corporate communications, PR, or journalism fields and a proven track record across various audience groups and channels. 
  • Experience working with and writing for senior executives in corporate communications. 
  • Experience with writing ghost articles, white papers, and other presentation copy. 
  • Proven and relevant experience preferably gained in a fast-paced environment and a professional services firm. 
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. 
  • Strong understanding and proficiency in integrated marketing initiatives - including but not limited to PR, analyst relations, content marketing, influencer marketing, and digital media. 
  • Connections with trade and business media in the US a plus. 
  • Proven experiences developing communications plans, marketing strategies, and social media campaigns. 
  • Exceptional storyteller with written skills and a history of developing content for different platforms and events. 
  • Enthusiastic and enjoy working in a dynamic, flexible, fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills. 
  • Financial comms experience preferred. 
  • Real estate experience and knowledge of marketing a plus.
