This role can be located in Battle Creek, MI or Chicago, IL.

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Media Strategy Development – In this role you will oversee our earned and paid media strategy, supporting corporate communications activity. You will also provide strategic communications counsel to leaders, as well as develop and execute Kellanova’s proactive story telling plans. Your ability to formulate strategy and communicate with all levels of the organization will be an asset! 
  • Creative Thinking and Execution – You will use your expertise todevelop and refine content to be used on external platforms, including a variety of communications materials such as media briefing documents, press releases, thought leadership posts on social platforms, press interviews, and other general communications. 
  • Drive Results – Ensure that content aligns with the company vision, purpose, strategy, values, priorities, narrative, policies and initiatives. 
  • Builds Effective Teams – Create strong relationships by working collaboratively with leaders and members of the Global Corporate Affairs team to ensure effective coordination and execution of project-specific communication plans across multiple channels in support of key initiatives, including message and timing alignment and executional excellence on external communication deliverables.

Your Recipe for Success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field with relevant communications experience. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications required, preferably in an agency or corporate environment. Experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) or food industry is an asset. 
  • Strategic thinker with the courage to make recommendations based on available data and best practices. 
  • Excellent Tier 1 media relationships. 
  • Clear ability to develop stories which elevate our company reputation. 
  • Comfortable using a variety of communication tools, including social and digital platforms as part of a channel management strategy. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in building relationships with executives and both internal and external partners. 
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees. 
  • Proven project-management skills and ability to manage and prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
