About the team:

The Corporate Communications team at Ventas is responsible for all external and internal communications including media relations, reputation and issues management, executive communications, branding and marketing, talent communications and corporate philanthropy. The team is committed to supporting Ventas’s business objectives and plays a critical role in protecting and promoting the Company’s brand and reputation among a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.

About the role:

As a senior member of the corporate communications team, this individual will be responsible for planning and executing communications initiatives for multiple audiences. The Director will interface directly with cross-functional teams and leaders to develop and promote narratives around performance, people and other priorities. The Director will support both ongoing and special projects and will effectively manage agency partners to create scale, maximize output and efficiency and drive quality and consistency. The successful candidate will help define, promote and protect the Company’s image, reputation and brand and will implement internal and external corporate messaging to drive awareness and appreciation of the Company’s brand among relevant constituencies.

Key responsibilities and deliverables include, but are not limited to:

The Director will report to the Vice President of Corporate Communications and will be the primary lead for external communications activities for Ventas including proactive programs and reactive management, and will drive consistent and high-quality communications programs to effectively share the Ventas narrative with key internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and executing ongoing external communications strategies that support executive and business priorities and enhance the Company’s brand and reputation 
  • Partnering and coordinating with various internal constituents including investor relations, legal/compliance, human resources, business development, etc. to advance internal and external communications priorities 
  • Assisting in media function alongside agency partners - managing inquiries, building / maintaining relationships, developing / executing proactive opportunities and monitoring firm, industry and peer coverage 
  • Collaborating on digital strategies including thought leadership, content and platform strategies 
  • Supporting communications strategies to address developments and issues and draft related materials 
  • Ensuring consistency of message across internal and external communications closely aligned with the ongoing branding initiatives 
  • Assisting in preparing executives for external engagements and mitigating communications risks 
  • Contributing to communications functional development, supporting group initiatives and reporting on efforts

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Communications/Business or relevant field; Master’s degree a plus 
  • 8+ years of corporate communications experience including external and internal communications, ideally in professional or financial services 
  • Exceptional written communication skills 
  • Strong presentation and speaking skills 
  • Demonstrated strong business and financial acumen 
  • Ability to craft messages that set the right tone and consistency for various communication vehicles/media
