This position is ideal for a hands-on, growth-oriented digital marketing player with experience delivering successful campaigns across multiple channels. The Director of Digital will lead a small team and play a primary role in creating customer-centric and innovative strategies that establish CAC as a premier destination in Chicago. As the driver of large-scale, multi-channel, digital initiatives this role requires strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills along with creativity, accountability, and attention to detail. The Director will manage relationships with internal teams and extended partners including creative agencies while leveraging the expertise of direct reports and a broad cross-functional team.

Responsibilities:

Accountable for defining the content journeys that will attract, nurture, inspire, and retain customers. Lead the recommendation, collaboration, and delivery across CAC’s digital products:

  • Social media platforms
  • Website
  • Digital communications
  • App

Own KPIs for website, digital, email marketing and social channels, track, and measure performance, provide regular analytics reports, identify trends, and innovate to increase engagement and results.

Translate the CAC experience into engaging material for digital audiences, creating content that allow the digital audience to develop a greater connection on the built environment.

Create revenue-generating promotions + campaigns to address specific strategic goals; ensure success in various channels (website, social, app). Measures and reports performance of all digital marketing campaigns, evaluates against goals (ROI and KPIs) and interprets data into actionable next steps to improve and optimize channel performance.

Establish and set content standards, best practices, and processes for content development, editing, and internal reviews.

Motivate and inspire a small team to execute and optimize digital outputs.

Social Media:

  • Drive social media strategy – coordinate communications calendar, create content specific to each channel that is compelling and increases audience engagement, determine frequency and visuals suitable to each channel and target audience. 
  • Advise and motivate team to execute. Monitor engagement and respond promptly to all comments.

Website/App:

  • Manage and own healthy digital presence across architecture.org and the CAC app. 
  • This includes regular maintenance, oversight of CAC’s digital agency, leading all website/app rebuilds and new builds, oversight of hosting platform and any other related tasks.

Advertising:

  • Increase online visibility, manage, and execute digital advertising. Including: Optimize Google AdWords grant; propose strategic digital advertising budget, create display and/or retargeting ads, and paid social that will deliver healthy pipeline of prospects, and move donors through lifecycle optimizing engagement, retention, and revenue. 
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of website including SEO/SEM and optimizing user journeys.

Email:

  • Lead team to execute end-to-end email campaigns, manage, and maintain email lists/segmentation, campaign monitoring and analysis.

Education & Experience:

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree in Marketing or related field 
  • 7-10 years of experience in digital marketing, with emphasis on direct response and content creation. 
  • Proven success in managing digital advertising including display, paid social, retargeting, with experience in Google AdWords 
  • Systems experience with website CMS (Wordpress); e-mail marketing platform (Mailchimp, Wordfly.); CRM system (Tessitura), content scheduling (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.); Google Analytics, Facebook and Twitter Analytics.
  •  Excellent writing and storytelling experience in a professional setting 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and Adobe Creative Suite products, including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator. 

Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

  • Tech savvy with strong software skills, including advanced features of Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
  • Must be a highly organized self-starter with the ability to multitask and function effectively under pressure. 
  • Comfortable with fast-paced, cross-functional working environment; highly resourceful and works gracefully under pressure with tight deadlines and multiple internal clients. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, and constituents. 
  • Very hands-on with the tactics; can-do approach and unwavering focus on business results. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. 
  • Must be willing to travel within the Chicagoland area. 
  • Periodic evening and weekend work is required to assist with on-site production of events.
