Position Overview:

Navistar is seeking a Director, Marketing Communications to implement marketing strategies within the commercial organization.

The Director, Marketing Communications will quarterback the activation plan across numerous customer segments and brands. This role reports directly to a Vice President of Marketing and will be required to collaborate across functions including Sales, Business Operations, Accounting, Corporate Communications and marketing peers to drive success.

Successful candidates will apply customer insights and market intelligence to link the brand strategy though execution. They will collaborate with numerous stakeholders throughout the organization including business unit and channel leaders to understand how marketing supports their needs by generating awareness, lead generation, loyalty, etc. Leads the development and execution of marketing campaigns through post-campaign measurement and mix optimization. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • Executing brand strategy and external expression, consistently aligned to guidelines. 
  • Develop insights from anecdotal feedback and annual brand study and apply learnings to ongoing Marketing Communications efforts. 
  • Understand short and long-term business objectives and translate to marketing objectives that support business growth. 
  • Mentor and coach a team of high potential marketing professionals 
  • Oversight of numerous marketing agency partners which serve as extension of corporate marketing team

Brand & Marketing Communications

  • Develop omnichannel activation plan that supports business needs across all enterprise brands 
  • Scope activation requirements, resource needs, budget and delivery management 
  • Manage overall activation and day to day operations which includes ensuring consistency of messaging/tone/look across all activation touchpoints 
  • Understand marketing trends and implement new approaches that improve awareness, engagement and conversion 
  • Lead product marketing launches from positioning, messaging, activation plan through execution 
  • Develop and maintain library of photography assets 
  • Collaborate with the segment and product teams on growing and maintaining the collateral library 
  • Develop KPIs, track performance and facilitate monthly metrics reporting

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 10 years of marketing experience
  • At least 4 years management experience

OR

  • Master’s degree
  • At least 8 years of marketing experience
  • At least 4 years management experience

OR

  • At least 12 years of marketing experience
  • At least 4 years management experience

Desired Skills:

  • Strong administrative and management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects, programs and objectives 
  • Demonstrated skills in messaging and positioning offerings, ability to listen and interpret needs 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; strong presentation skills 
  • Strong business acumen, financial analysis, and the ability to translate quantitative data into actionable recommendations 
  • Highly collaborative, able to work in a matrixed environment and with senior leaders 
  • Self-motivated and strategic with the ability to take initiative and drive consensus when needed 
  • Project management with multiple stakeholder groups 
  • Experience in creative production 
  • Experience in the selection of agencies and third-party vendors and ability to write a thoughtful and actionable creative brief 
  • Management of project budget and resource allocation to support success and efficiency 
  • Hands on experience with basic creative tools via Adobe
