This position is responsible for leading, managing, and coordinating the business administration and operations of the community relations and development activities. The position provides operational direction and support for the planning and fund development process under the direction of the Area Coordinator. This position will work in close collaboration with and keep the Area Coordinator informed on all critical issues relating to his/her area of responsibility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Business Administration

Directs activities in assigned areas and business units to optimize long term operational sustainability and effectiveness to include:

o Creates and manages departmental budget, business plans and contracts, and collaborates with Area Coordinator regarding Greater Green Bay budgetary needs

o Assess and analyze financial needs across programming areas for The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay and plans and executes events and fundraising strategies to ensure fiscal needs are met.

o Oversight and implementation of strategic development and fundraising plans for all units in the Greater Green Bay Area, including but not limited to; Grant Writing, Special Events, Mail Appeal, Christmas Campaign.

o Personnel recruitment, hiring and retention within units of responsibility.

Supports the Area Coordinator in the implementation of the Greater Green Bay Area Strategic Plan to advance the organization’s mission and objectives, assuring timely tactical implementation of approved plans.

Strategizes and coordinates with the needs of the Greater Green Bay community to develop and submit new programming proposals to Divisional Headquarters for review and recommendation and/or approval, and engages in continuous process improvement to ensure that existing programs and services support The Salvation Army mission as well as community needs as they evolve.

Operations

Implements and reinforces plans related to facility safety, child safety and maintenance policies; evaluates and directs venues/business to ensure compliance with Salvation Army policy to optimize financial and service performance.

Provides direction and support to the Area Coordinator for the recruitment, engagement and retention of the Greater Green Bay Advisory Board and advocacy groups.

Seeks out and offers recommendations for potential collaborative partnerships and business revenue opportunities.

Leads efforts to build and retain a strong community, business and donor relationships.

Provides direction and support of the strategic marketing and communications plan to create awareness and branding for The Greater Green Bay Salvation Army.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will lead, direct, and supervise the efforts of the Grant Writer, Community Relations and Marketing Coordinator and the Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator. This position will work in collaboration with all Greater Green Bay Area Salvation Army Officers and/or other applicable management personnel and employees as it relates to Business Development.

Minimum Qualifications 

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance or a related field.

- And -

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of work experience directing operations in multiple facilities; minimum of 5 years work experience managing a budget of $5-10 million per year; minimum of 5 years prior experience supervising and managing multiple complex projects and professional staff.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certifications: Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army’s insurance carrier.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of principles and practices of business operations.

Knowledge of principles and practices of development and fundraising.

Knowledge of all health and safety regulations as determined by the Health Department, government regulations, and in compliance with Salvation Army policies and requirements.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English both orally and in writing with tact, diplomacy and authority.

Ability to work under pressure of many priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work well with staff, volunteers and donors.

Ability to develop and implement safety and risk management policies and procedures.

Ability to work a varied work schedule that may include work outside regular business hours to potentially include evenings, weekends and holidays.

Thorough understanding of the Brown County area as well as regional markets and demographics. Strong organizational skills, well-disciplined, able to meet deadlines, self-starter.
